Our activities:
Some historical facts...Gioventù Nuova is a part of the Youth for a United World, a branch of the Focolare Movement, founded by Chiara Lubich during World War II. Today the Movement is spread through over 180 nations, with more than 2.000.000 people who take part to its activities, with no distinction of race, religion age, and social extraction.
Our first ideal is to stay in Unity: the statement "Love yourselves each other like I loved you all" is the key to realize it, taking in our life the message coming from the holy Gospel.
The spark which made Gioventù Nuova born was a concert by Gen Rosso which was held in Pinerolo in september 1993: in some young people listening to the performance something changed: they wanted to know what was the element which kept together so well those musicians, making something more than a normal group. In April 1994 they organized a trip to Loppiano, the italian center of the Movement. Every year, on May 1st there is a big meeting with young people coming from every part of the World. The slogan was "The United World, an open yard"; in fact our group started its construction from there. We can say that the concrete birth of the group happened in June, while our first appariton was in September, at the Youth Festival, a meeting promoted by the diocese of Pinerolo. We took part to the festival with a stand. Our just-formed musical group gave a concert, and that was the chance for recruiting new forces between the people who saw us.lately we started with the beneficent activities, such as when we collected money to help the victims of a flood in our region (Piedmont). Other times we tried to collect something to feed the Movement itself: in 1995 a World congress (Gen Fest) was planned, and we took part to the "Operation Ticket", aiming at allowing people from every part of the world to get to Rome. Our activities, in all those years, have ranged on a wide horizon, we took our message to children as to old people in hospices; we also met more than once the members of Gen Rosso. The most important appointments in the year are the Mariapolis, a week of meetings in a holiday place, and the Youth festival in Pinerolo.
Our group currently consists of more than 50 people, ranging between 15 and 35 years of age, coming from Pinerolo and the near country. We meet ourselves every two weeks in the Fatima Parish in Pinerolo at 21:00. For every kind of informations, you can write us: gmu_pine@mailexcite.com
