Hall Family Genealogy

I have been working on my family history since about 1955. When I was six years old I lived in Shirley, Indiana with my parents, Arthur Hall and Callie Johnson Hall. My paternal grandparents, James William Hall (1883-1962) and Chloe Haney Hall (1887-1964) lived on the other side of that town of 1,083 people. We visited them at least twice weekly. My grandfather seemed to me to be somewhat intolerant of small children. Whenever I felt brave enough, I would question him. I asked him on several occasion, "what was your dad's name?" His response was, "Floyd Hall," who I later discovered lived from 1855 to 1938. "What was his dad's name?" I then asked. "Elick Hall," was Grandpa's answer. I had never heard that name. Some years later I founded out that "Elick Hall " was actually Alexander Hall who was born in Perry County, Kentucky in 1825 and died in Rowan County, Kentucky about 1898. "Who was his dad?" I then asked. Grandpa seemed to have reached his tolerance for questions and responded somewhat curtly, "I don't know."

This web-site was created to help shorten the research of others. I hope to provide on-line access to the data that I possess, and other data which I have researched. The hope is to help centralized much of the information as it relates to residents of Eastern Kentucky and specifically the Hall Family. I am trying to provided material that is not available yet on any GenWeb pages.
