AFTER LEAVING ALASKA, ARRIVED IN SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA ON 12 MARCH 1947, RECEIVED AN OVERHALL, AFTER WHICH SHE PROCEEDED TO TIBURON, CALIFORNIA FOR TRAINING EXERCISES.
AFTER TRAINING EXERCIES, WAS ASSIGNED TO HAWAIIAN DUTY ENGAGING IN HARBOR OPERATIONS AT PEARL HARBOR FROM 7 JUNE 1947 TO JANUARY 1948. SHE THEN ASSUMED OPERATIONS OFF THE U. S. WEST COAST FOR THE NEXT 2 YEARS.
DEPARTING BREMERTON, WASHINGTON ON 8 JULY 1950, SHE ENGAGED IN NET TENDING AT SASEBOR AND YOUKOSUKA HARBORS IN JAPAN.
THE SHIP WAS IN DRYDOCK AT LEAST TWICE BETWEEN JULY 1950 AND DECEMBER 1955.
BETWEEN 29 MAY AND 1 AUGUST 1953, SHE OPERATED IN THE KOREAN PORTS OF: PUSAN, CHEJU DO, ULSAN, WONSAN, AND CHINHAE ... AIDING U.N. FORCES IN MEETING THE CHALLENGE OF COMMUNIST AGRESSION. MULBERRY RECEIVED ONE BATTLE STAR FOR KOREAN SERVICE.
ON 23 DECEMBER 1955, MULBERRY ARRIVED IN LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA. ASSIGNED TO COMINPAC, OPERATING WITH MINE SWEEPERS FROM THAT PORT FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS. SHE HAD THE SPECIFIC DUTY OF RETREIVING MINES. ALSO WAS INVOLVED IN UNDERWATER MISSILE EXPERIMENTS HELD AROUND ST. NICHOLAS ISLAND OFF THE COAST OF CALIFORNIA.
SHE WENT INTO DRY DOCK FOR 3 MONTHS IN 1956, RECEIVING A COMPLETE REFURBISHING INCLUDING THE INSTALLATION OF A RECOMPRESSION CHAMBER, (ONE OF THREE SHIPS SO EQUIPPED ON THE WEST COAST).
THE MULBERRY WAS DECOMMISSIONED 11 APRIL 1960, AND WAS PLACED IN THE PACIFIC RESERVE FLEET BERTHED AT SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA
IN NOVEMBER 1965, SHE WAS TRANSFERRED ON LOAN TO ECUADOR, UNDER THE MILITARY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM. HER NAME AND NUMBER WAS CHANGED TO 'ORION' (H101), AND USED AS A SURVEY SHIP UNTIL 1980 WHEN SHE WAS SCRAPPED OUT.
