Five Worlds of Interest Necklace

This necklace represents the five Worlds of Interest, the Promise, and the Law. You will need the following materials:

As you pass out the yarn explain the Worlds of Interest. Tell what color represents what world. Put the five pieces of yarn together and tape one end. Thread the three green beads to the middle of the yarn. These three beads represent the Promise. As the girls thread the beads recite the Promise. Next you need to tie 5 overhand knots on either side of the two outer beads. Make the knots about 1/2 inch apart. As the girls tie the knots, recite the Law. Tie the ends together. And there you have the necklace.

Girl Scout Friendship Bookmark

Materials needed:

I used my computer to write the following on the white piece of paper:

Girl Scout Friendship Bookmark
Gold: Old Friends in Scouting
Green: Girl Scouts Around the World
Red: The World of Well-Being
Orange: The World of Today and Tomorrow
Yellow: The World of Out-of-Doors
Blue: The World of People
Purple: The World of Arts
Silver: New Friends in Scouting

The knot in the ribbon represents the Girl Scout Promise and Law, which hold Girl Scouts together around the world.

After the poem is on the white piece of paper glue it on the construction paper. Then cover both sides with contact paper and cut off the excess. Punch a hole at the top to tie the ribbon on. Thread the beads onto the ribbon in the order that is listed on the white paper. Tie a knot with the two ends of the ribbon down by the beads. Then tie the ribbon onto the the bookmark. And your finished.

Sit-a-Can

Materials Needed:

Depending on the size of the bucket is what you need to measure the construction paper to fit. Print a girl's name on the white paper with a marker. The white paper should be smaller than the construction paper. Glue the white paper onto the construction paper. Cover the front of the papers with contact paper and stick it to the bucket. Push out all the air bubbles the best you can. Have the girls draw a picture onto another piece of white paper. Then glue to another piece of construction paper. Cover with contact paper and then stick it to the opposite side of the bucket. And their's your sit-a-can.

Friendship Stick

Materials needed:

Screw the hook into the top of the dialrod. Draw an outline of hair, eyes, nose and a mouth. Then draw an x where the neck would be. Make the x about a half inch long. Draw four circles in a row. Then draw a line all the way around the rod. Below the line draw another circle and then a heart. Then below the heart draw a rectangle about a half inch long. Color the top of the rod where the hook is green. Color the hair yellow. Color one eye blue and one eye brown. Color the nose black, the mouth red, the x black, outline the first circle black. Color the next circle in brown, the next circle yellow, the next circle red. The line color black. The next circle color orange and paint half the heart silver and the other half gold. Color the rectangle blue. Then sign the back of the rod with your name. Tie the yarn or cord onto the hook. The Friendship Stick Poem is listed in the Poems.

Daisy Chain Headdress

Materials needed:

Make a daisy flower out of the white paper. Make the flower about 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Trace 8-12 flowers on white paper. With the yellow paper make a circle about the size of a nickel. Trace centers for how many flowers you have. With the green paper make a simple leaf that looks like the shape of an eye. Have the leaf be about 2 inches long and only cut out half the amount you did of the flowers. the leaves go on every other flower. With the orange paper cut it into strips. Take the strips and measure the girls head. You will probably need 2 strips per girl. Staple the ends together. Have the girls glue the flowers together and glue on the orange paper.
