Herod Vaughan was born 30 June 1813 in Lexington, Washington Co., Kentucky. He was the son of William Vaughan and Margaret __________. Herod died in 1907 in Vienna, Missouri, at the age of 93, and was buried in Vienna, Maries Co., Missouri. He married Nancy Murphy 26 March 1832 in Washington Co., Kentucky. She was born in 1813. Nancy died in 1860 in Illinois, at the age of 47. They had 11 children:

2. John Bookout Vaughan, born 16 January 1836
3. Margaret Vaughan, born in 1837
4. Andrew T. Vaughan, born 13 September 1841, died about November 1897

6. Nancy Vaughan, born 24 December 1845
7. Herod Vaughan, born in 1847
8. Sarah Vaughan, born in 1849

11. Robert Vaughan
Herod had 5 stepchildren:

Herod married his second wife, Nancy Elizabeth Boone in 1865 in Maries Co., Missouri. She was born 17 September 1837 in Brandley Co., Tennessee. Nancy died 21 January 1880 in Iberia, Missouri, at the age of 42, and was buried at Iberia, Missouri. They had 6 children:
1. Millicent ("Millie") Emiline Vaughan, born in 1868
2. Marion F. Vaughan, born 12 August 1869, died 11 May 1939
3. Wilson Vaughan, born 1872, died 1 February 1900
4. Amanda Vaughan, born 16 March 1875, died in 1945
5. Alice Elizabeth Vaughan, born 17 April 1878, died in June 1958
6. Nancy Elizabeth Vaughan, born 21 January 1880, died 25 March 1954
