Dear FCFC,
Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Found your web site through link on FEA's webpage: (http://webs.tcsn.net/kcondron).
I find it quite interesting how frequently we former, 20-30-50 years veterans of Roman Catholic indoctrination (teaching), are lumped into the latest lie of Catholicism, namely that we are all victims of poor quality teaching from just a "few" nuns or priests. Satan is very clever. Since those who are questioning have not yet found freedom, this ploy is very useful; like the one they used to give us about the "occasional poor selection of a pope".
The only way to overcome even this tactic is to study, study, study the Word of God, rightly divided and in the King James Version. A pure heart that truly wants only the truth from God will find it.
I just posted my testimony on my homepage at: (www.tctnet.net/ritaeb/index.htm)
I look forward to visiting here often. Thank you for your dedication to the
Truth.
Rita on the net
Dear Rita,
Thank you for writing. Yes, Rome often tells us that we had a bad teacher and that is not what they really meant. But the ones who usually are trying to convince us were not raised Catholic and are themselves being deceived about what Rome really does believe. They teach their people one thing and tell others something different. I am finding out more and more that the claim of Rome that they are “one” is a total myth. The average Catholic doesn’t really know what he/she believes. I had an opportunity while on vacation to talk to a Catholic man. I asked him if he died tonight if he knew where he would spend eternity. His answer was “Yes, I do...I am convinced in my heart that when I die I will go straight to heaven”. I told him that according to Rome, he just committed the “sin of presumption” and was damned to hell for that “heretical” teaching. He was convinced that I was wrong, yet New York’s Cardinal O’Connor (New York Times, 2/1/90) said,
“Church teaching is that I don’t know, at any given moment, what my eternal future will be. I can hope, pray, do my very best - but I still don’t know. Pope Paul John II doesn’t know absolutely that he will go to heaven nor does Mother Teresa of Calcutta.”
Now here is this poor Catholic man believing sincerely that he is following Rome, when in truth, he has contradicted her and “protested” one of her doctrines...welcome to “Protestanism”!!! This same man teaches CCD and tried so hard to convince me that “good people” whether “Buddhists, Hindus, Islamics, Catholic or Christian” will go to heaven. He used John 10:16 to “prove” his words, “And other sheep [the Gentiles] I have, which are not of this fold [Jews]....” I explained that no one was “good” and that the Bible clearly says “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Rom.3:23). I also stressed that he quoted part of John 10:16, but did not complete the quote:
“...them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.”
The Buddhists and the Islamics must also “hear” His voice and be brought into the one fold. The one thing I stressed before I left was to read the KJB and study.
We hope to hear from you again. It’s good to know that there are others out there sharing their testimonies. May God have mercy on the poor deceived souls trapped by the lies of Rome.
In His Grace,
Rebecca A. Sexton
To FCFC,
Thank you so much for your very informative and SCRIPTURAL web page. I am a former Catholic who is trying desperately to witness to my family. All attempts thus far have been met with animosity. I pray daily for the salvation of my family. I am expecting my parents for a visit next week. Please pray for me as I make yet another attempt to reach them with the glorious news of the gospel. Having read your responses in the "letters" section, I feel more equipped to handle their arguments, questions, etc. Again, thank you and God bless!
A.H. of Wasilla, Alaska
Dear A.H.,
Glad that we could help. If there is any subject that we have not covered that you or your family may have questions about, please feel free to write us. You are in our prayers.
In His Mercy,
Rebecca A. Sexton
To FCFC,
I think you all are doing a great job! I am not (or ever have been) a Catholic, but my ex-husband is. When ever I would try to talk to him about the differences between our churches, his response would be that "you can't tell me that my parents, their parents before them and their parents are all wrong!" To which I would say YES I CAN! I am happy to see that people are actually coming out of that "church" and opening their eyes to the truth! If I can ever be of any help, let me know.
In Christ's love,
D.B.of Indianapolis, IN
Dear D.B.,
Thanks for writing. It is amazing how often we hear the cry:
“Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.” (Jer.16:19)
They stand as an example to us not to trust in what our “fathers” say, but rather to trust in what God says. 2 Chron.34:21 says:
“Go, enquire of the LORD for me, and for them that are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found: for great is the wrath of the LORD that is poured out upon us, BECAUSE OUR FATHERS HAVE NOT KEPT THE WORD OF THE LORD, TO DO AFTER ALL THAT IS WRITTEN IN THIS BOOK.” (Emphasis mine)
How wonderful it is to know God’s mercy and forgiveness and even more wonderful when we share it!!!
Trusting in Jesus,
Rebecca A. Sexton
Dear Former Catholics For Christ,
Please remove from your mailing list the following two addresses:
I found it very offensive to see in the May/June 1997 issue on page 55 the illustration by Dr. Peter Ruckman of “The Long Arm of the ‘Man of Sin’” his inclusion of Bob Jones Faculty. I am a graduate of Bob Jones University, and the Bob Jones Faculty taught me to love the Word of God and to preach it without compromise.
I appreciate your efforts to reach those enslaved by Romanism, but it is sad to see you don’t have the discernment to understand the error of “Ruckmanism.”
Sincerely,
James R. Belcher, Pastor
Calvary Baptist Church
Clyde, Ohio
Dear Mr. Belcher,
You say that Bob Jones University taught you to love the “Word of God”. May I ask which word? Since you feel that Dr. Ruckman and we here at FCFC are in “error” for believing that the King James Bible is the preserved word of God, inerrant, infallible as promised by God, then I must assume you are talking about another version. Did Bob Jones University tell you that it didn’t matter what version? Please understand sir, that I am not a Hebrew or Greek scholar, and from what I have read, the so-called “scholars” all disagree with each other, so how can I know which of the scholars is telling the truth? Let me give you an example. Dr. Edward Hills, who held three earned degrees from the schools Yale, Columbia, and Harvard, taught the first faculty members of Dallas Theological Seminary, Denver Theological Seminary and Louisville Seminary that the following Alexandrian readings were “HERETICAL” (The King James Version Defended, 136):
1. “The Son of God” is omitted in Sinaiticus in Mark 1:1.
2. The Deity of Christ is eliminated from Luke 23:42 in Sinaiticus, Vaticanus, and P75..
3. The omnipresence of Christ is eliminated in Sinaiticus, Vaticanus, P66 and P75 in John 3:13.
4. “God” has been omitted in John 9:35 in Sinaiticus, Vaticanus, P66 and P75.
5. The worship of Christ has been deleted from John 9:38-39 in Sinaiticus and P75..
6. In John 19:5, P66 omits “Behold the man.”
7. In Romans 14:10, “Christ” has been knocked out by Sinaiticus, Vaticanus, and P75..
8. “The Son of God” has been knocked out of John 6:68-69 in Sinaiticus, Vaticanus, and P75..
Now here we see an expert scholar telling us that the Alexandrian text contains “heretical” doctrine, yet Bob Jones University promoted these “oldest and best manuscripts” through the head of their Bible department, Dr. Custer (also responsible for putting out a pamphlet called The Truth About The King James Version Controversy). Now what is a common man to do Mr. Belcher? Am I to believe that God has made me a prisoner to a bunch of Greek and Hebrew scholars who can’t agree with each other? Knowing that God is not a respecter of persons and gives to babes what he hides from the wise (Lk.10:21; 1 Cor.1:25-29, 3:21; Job 32:21-22), I went to God and asked Him which version I should use. I figured that since God delivered me from the chains of Rome, He could show me what Bible was true and which Bible was a lie. After all, there can only be one truth...not many! If two Bible versions disagree with each other, one of them altered the word and the plagues are coming on those who did it (Rev.21:18).
Interesting enough, Jehovah’s Witnesses were at my door trying to convince me that Jesus was “a god” but not God. Believing that Jesus was God in the flesh, I started searching the different versions concerning the divinity of Jesus, and that’s when I discovered that the other versions were taking away the glory from Jesus. My friend Debbie Rucker used the Revised Standard Version and had no intentions of switching Bibles. I would bring my KJB and we would compare scriptures. I knew beforehand that the RSV was taking away the glory of Jesus, but Debbie didn’t. I would quote a verse such as:
“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh....” (1Ti.3:16)
Debbie would respond, “My Bible doesn’t say that!” Her RSV read “He was revealed in the flesh”. The KJB makes it clear that “God” was manifest in the flesh, which verse I needed to combat the false doctrines of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. I need a “sharp sword” not a dull one. I found this true of many verses, one of them being Acts 20:28, The KJB reads:
“Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which HE HATH PURCHASED WITH HIS OWN BLOOD.” (Emphasis mine)
Now let’s read the RSV:
“Keep watch over yourselves and over all the flock, of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God that he obtained with the blood of his own Son.”
The RSV (as well as the NIV) omits “I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last” from Revelation 1:11 (a most important cross-reference to Isa.44:6 and 48:12 to prove Jesus is God). Again in Philippians 2:6, the KJB reads, “Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God”, but the RSV reads, “who, though he was in the form of God did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited” and the NIV, which comes from the same manuscripts as the RSV, reads “who being in the very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped”. I don’t think it takes a Greek scholar to realize that every one of these Bibles are saying a different thing! But it is the KJB that clearly glorifies Jesus as God and it is this verse that would cut the false doctrine of those who deny the divinity of Jesus Christ our Lord, Savior and God!!! I am personally horrified at the NIV’s rendering of John 1:18 which could deceive a reader into believing there is more than One God and contradicts the first commandment of God (“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD.” Deut.4:6) It reads:
“No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father’s side, has made him known.” (Jn.1:18, NIV)
But the true word of God (KJB) reads:
“No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.” (Jn.1:18)
Another point that I feel should be made is the NIV states that “The most reliable early manuscripts and other ancient witnesses do not have Mark 16:9-20 and John 7:53-8:11” but then they put them in there anyway. Now if they truly considered the manuscripts to be more “reliable” then why don’t they rely on them? No, instead, they rely on the manuscripts that the KJB comes from to fill in the missing verses. As Dr. Peter Ruckman so aptly put it:
“Here are these smart alecks professing to be able to CORRECT your Bible (and they have been at it for 375 years) on the grounds that it is not a PERFECT translation...They profess to be able to CORRECT an imperfect translation (AV 1611) All right! Where, then, is the perfect translation? You say, “It’s nowhere.” WHAT?! After 375 years, 600,000 scholars (including 500 commentators, 1500 translators, 10 publishers, 4000 professors, 500 archaeologists, 200 historians, and 500,000 students) have not been able to CORRECT ALL OF THE MISTAKES THEY FOUND IN AN AV 1611? Isn’t that a confession of some kind or another?” (Biblical Scholarship, Dr. Peter Ruckman, 39)
I believe we have proven in last months article Does the NIV Support Unbiblical Catholic Doctrine that the newer versions are polluted. Time magazine (Dec.26,1994-Jan.2,1995, 72-72) noted that:
“‘...the best-known candidate [for the next Pope] is Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini...a Jesuit...an order with a reputation for liberalism.’ Martini was one of the five men who created the UBS Greek text underlying new versions” (Blind Guides, Gail Riplinger, 54).
Now would you have me trust these men when you yourself said that Romanism “enslaves”? They would lie to their own people but not to us? I believe again, that Dr. Ruckman says it best:
“Anyone with a fourth grade education can pick up any copy of any “reliable translation” in this century and check the following verses with the same verses in the Catholic bibles (Jerusalem, New American, Challoner, Douay-Rheims, or Vulgate) and know where he is immediately: he is kissing the Pope’s foot at St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican. The following verses are the documented, black-and-white proof that every English bible printed since 1884 and recommended by Bob Jones University...IS AN AUTHORIZED ROMAN CATHOLIC MISSAL (nihil obstat) SENT WITH LOVE “IN THE NAME OF CHRIST” FROM THE VATICAN-old Mother Whore herself (Rev.17-18). Here are the verses:
* Matthew 1:25; 6:13; 20:22
* Mark 1:1-2; 6:11; 9:44-48; 13:14; 15:28
* Luke 2:4; 4:8, 41; 9:54
* John 4:42; 9:35; 11:41; 17:12; 18:36
* Acts 1:3; 2:30; 7:30; 9:5-6; 10:48; 17:26; 23:9; 27:14; 28:29
* Romans 1:18, 25: 11:6; 13:9
* 1 Corinthians 10:28; 11:24; 15:47
* Galatians 3:1; 5:4
* Colossians 1:14
* 1 Timothy 6:20
* 2 Timothy 2:15
* Titus 2:13
* 1 Peter 2:2; 4:14
* 2 Peter 2:17
* Revelation 14:5; 22:14
No knowledge of Greek or Hebrew is necessary. No knowledge of ‘itacism’ or ‘haplography’ is necessary. No high school diploma is necessary...No knowlege of church history or manuscript evidence is necessary. God put it right out in front of you, just as plain as the nose on your face or as plain as the back of your hand. That is about half the verses. You don’t need a high school education to find the truth” (Biblical Scholarship, Dr. Peter Ruckman, 147).
God made a promise in the King James Bible (and you won’t find it in the newer versions), and that promise is:
“The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.” (Ps.12:6-7)
Historically, God kept His promise, “purified seven times”.
1. A Hebrew Old Testament written in Hebrew (1500-389 B.C.).
2. Parts of the Hebrew Old Testament written in Aramaic (1500-500 B.C.).
3. A New Testament written in Koine Greek street language (40-90 A.D.).
4 An Old Syriac translation of those texts into Syrian (120-150 A.D.).
5 An Old Latin translation of those texts into Latin (150-200 A. D.).
6. A German translation of those texts for the beginning of the Reformation (1500-1560 A.D.).
7. An English translation (AV 1611) for the end of the Reformation (1525-1611 A.D.) (Biblical Scholarship, Ruckman, 129).
There may be many sincere faculty members of Bob Jones University, but sincerity is no gauge for truth...they were sincerely wrong when they promoted the new versions as “the most reliable” They were wrong when the head of the Bible Department at Bob Jones stated that the:
“Alexandrian Text of Westcott and Hort was superior to the Receptus of the Protestant Reformation, after he had lied 14 times on 35 pages of polemic literature, after he claimed that the Alexandrian Greek New Testament was inspired and inerrant, after he stated that no translation was inspired and the Authorized Version was full of errors....” (Biblical Scholarship, Dr. Ruckman, 181)
“The wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what wisdom is in them?” (Jer.8:9)
I do hope you will reconsider your stand on the word of God. After this issue, we will remove your names from the mailing list. May God give you the strength to stand up for His Word in the midst of ravening wolves who have crept in unaware. Rome has infiltrated her enemy (the word of God).
Most Sincere,
Rebecca A. Sexton
Dear FCFC,
I super appreciate your stand for the true word of God. I was going through different ministries that are linked to “Mission to Catholics” and sent them a small e-mail telling them that I would love to talk about a very important issue with them, namely the bible versions, per-versions. I have e-mailed “Proclaiming the Gospel” and in the perversion they use, it is the gospel is the power of salvation. Christ was slipped out. I also wrote “Matt. 10:32” ministries, they use the NIV also. I believe that these men are sincere but they are sincerely wrong. Jesus prayed that we might be sanctified through God's truth which is his word. I told them if we have a perversion that is not his word then how can he sanctify us? He can't. Keep me in prayer. I hope to hear back from them. I was giving out "Far from Rome, Near to God" and it surprised me to see Richard having a bible search program on his Page with the NIV and other perversions. I e-mailed him and made a couple of comments and used John 17:17 with him also. Keep up the good work. Praise the Lord! Check out my Page if you would like. It is below.
