ANDERSON, Theodore, my father. Last known to reside in Detroit, 1959. His family had been established in the upper peninsula for quite some time. His parents owned a small home. His father worked for the railroad as a conductor or ticketmaster and retired between 1951-54. I do not know his fathers first name, but believe his mothers first name to be Anna. He had several brothers and one sister. Names that I remember are Vigo, Hulgar and Iler. Iler was employed in mining and owned a farm and raised chickens and horses. Iler died in 1954-55, reportedly while at work in the mine. My fathers sisters name was Margaret, married name unknown. I believe she was married to someone in the medical profession. My father was married to Eleanor Josephine Pavlik sometime between 1940 and 1945. He has two children Joanna Karen born 9/24/47 and Jacquelynn Kay born 9/16/48. I am not confident what county or counties these individuals resided in, even though I actually attended kindergarten somewhere in the upper peninsula during 1952-53, (Joanna Karen). I would appreciate any information concerning my father or his family. There were a lot of aunts, uncles counsins and second counsins in the upper peninsula even in 1959. I would also appreciate any suggestions pertaining to persuing this. The only actual dates I have are birthdates for my sister and myself.

He was married to Alice Ann Ford, she was born in Troy, Miami Co., Ohio on 30 July 1857 and died in Sterling, Arenac Co., Michigan on 25 Feb 1936. I'm seeking information on the following family that resided in Burt Township, Alger County in 1900. From the 1900 census: John Lowry, born May 1863 in Canada; wife Bridget, born February 1872 in Michigan; Children -- Edward, born December 1891 in Michigan -- Annabel, born September 1894 in Michigan -- Harry, born July 1896 in Michigan -- Kathleen, born 1898 in Michigan.

John was a longshoreman. He had been married to Bridget for 11 years in 1900. The census indicates he immigrated from Canada in 1869 and is naturalized. Although the record says both his parents were both born in Canada, which I believe could be erroneous (the entries are in a distinctly different handwriting from all other entries on the page, suggesting someone other than the census taker filled in blank spaces with a best guess, probably Canada because the place of birth of virtually all parents of heads of household and their spouses shown on this page is listed as Canada).

Actually, I believe John, here, is the son of John Lowery and Sarah Ann Watkins, my great grandparents. John Lowery (Sr) was born in Ireland and Sarah Ann in Ohio. In 1870 the family resided in Ovid Township, Clinton County, Michigan. The 1870 census says that John and Sarah's first two children, Lucy Ann, 9, and John, 7, were born in Canada West [Ontario]. Any information, especially any that would help me confirm this family tie, would be much appreciated.

Have a new e-mail address, so am resubmitting the following: Seeking information on this family found in the 1900 census for Burt Township, Alger County, Michigan: John Lowry, born May 1863 in Canada; wife Bridget, born February 1872 in Michigan; Children -- Edward, born December 1891 in Michigan -- Annabel, born September 1894 in Michigan -- Harry, born July 1896 in Michigan -- Kathleen, born 1898 in Michigan. John was a longshoreman. He had been married to Bridget for 11 years in 1900. The census indicates he immigrated from Canada in 1869 and was naturalized. Trying to determine if this John Lowry [Lowery] was the child of John Lowery and Sarah Ann Watkins (originally from Michigan), who had two children in Canada, Lucy Ann about 1861 and John about 1863, and who removed to Michigan about 1869 and resided in Shiawassee and Clinton Counties.
