The two names I am researching in Marquette County are HOLMBERG and MASON. Here is what I know: Eric MASON was married to Mathilda (Annie) HOLMBERG in Sweden in 1882. Mathilda was born in Sweden 18 Apr 1863. SHe had two children in Sweden by Eric Mason - Charles in 1883 and Emily in 1886. They immigrated to the US in 1888, not sure where. A third child, William Oscar was born in Minnesota in 1889, and then two more were born in Negaunee, MI: Gustave in 1891 and Edith in 1893. Sometime between this time and 1900 Mathilda and Eric were seperated or divorced or something. I found the Mathilda (Annie) Holmberg family in Negaunee in both the 1900 and 1910 federal censuses. In both of these censuses, the children's last names are listed as Holmberg, and this is what they went by for the rest of their lives. The other info I found on the info is from the Negaunee cemetery. The burial includes: 1)Emily Mason (Mattson) died 23 Feb 1899 2)William Oscar Holmbery died 18 May 1918 3) Annie (Mathilda) Holmberg died 3 Jun 1925 4) Alfred Franzen died 1921 I think that this Franzen was some kind of boarder in 1900, and ended up living with Mathilda until his death. I have no other info on Eric Mason other than his name and that he was married in 1882 in Sweden and came to the US in 1888. Another thing is that in the 1900 census, Mathilda (Annie) was listed as married for 18 years, but in 1910 she is listed as widowed. I dont know if this is because Mason died or was just out of the picture. the 1900 and 1910 censuses are the only 2 I have access to for Michigan. They were Lutheran. All of the info I have has come from the 2 censuses and the Negaunee burial record. My grandmother remembered the name Eric Mason, and so did another relative. The other thing that seems strange is that I have seen the birth record for Gustave Holmberg b.1891 (my greatgrandfather) and the parents are listed as Annie and Eric Holmberg. I am confused. Questions: 1) anything on Eric Mason - immigration, death, burial, census, divorce, probate 2) Mathilda - place of death, death record, immigration, divorce, other census 3) Why seperated or what happened
