The Federal Web LocatorThe Federal Web Locator at Villanova University is cited as theMost comprehensive listing of Executive Branch sitesin the University of Michigan's Document Center listings. Villanova's ambitious goals are enunciated in introductory remarks: The Federal Web Locator is a service provided by the Villanova Center for Information Law and Policy and is intended to be the one stop shopping point for federal government information on the World Wide Web. This list is maintained to bring the cyber citizen to the federal government's doorstep. If you learn of a federal government site not listed, please mail us so we can add it to the list and spread the wealth of information about the federal government on the Web. As of 26 March 1997, the page had been accessed 1,842,209 times, indicating that the goals had been achieved! There is a search capability on the site, but it requires some knowledge of Boolean expressions or Perl regular expressions, which could turn off many potential users, even though there are thorough explanations of both search techniques available. Unfortunately, the search engine was inaccessible the day I tried it. To get a feeling for the inclusiveness of Villanova's links, try using its index.
