
DESCENDANTS OF JOHANNES PEIFFER
I. Johannes Peiffer "and another brother emigrated from
Frankfort, Germany, when quite young, and settled in
Sunbury, PA., while the brother went to Maryland.1 Johannes married Maria Barbara2 (Knapp?3)
- II. Johannes George Peiffer was born September 15, 1756,
in Heidelberg, Berks Co., PA.2
He married Maria Magdalene SCHÄFFER, daughter of
Johannes SCHÄFFER and Maria SABIN,2
on April 2, 1781.2 George and
Magdalena settled in Northumberland Co., and on May 15,
1802, they moved to Blumfield township, Crawford Co. In
1810 they moved to their final home in Mead township,
Crawford Co.2 George died on
January 19, 1823, and Magdalena died October 2, 1844.2. They had eleven children, but their
last child, a son, "saw the light of this earthly world only for
one year and nine months."2
Their children were:
- III. Barbara PEIFFER, b. February 21, 17822, who married Christian FURST/FERST1. who came to the area about 17974
. Their first two of twelve children1
were born in Crawford County, after which the family removed to
Mercer County5.
- III. George PEIFFER, Jr., b. August 22,
1783,1,2, d. 1868, Saegertown, PA.

- III. Eva PEIFFER, b. May 28, 17852,
who married Nicholas Schaffer, and together they have four children.1
- III. Elisabeth PEIFFER, b. October 6, 17872, who married Henry MINIUM, Jr., and had
four children.1
- III. Johannes PEIFFER, b. May 16, 1789,2 and died July 5, 1864. He married
Susan HETRICK, and they had fifteen children1
- III. Michael PEIFFER, b. May 14, 1791.2 Michael married Rebecca BERLIN in
18161
- III. Samuel PEIFFER, b. April 16, 17942, d. December 29, 18766,
was married to Susanna MINIUM, b. December 25, 1795,7
d. Sept. 2, 18656, on August
22, 1816, in Meadville, PA, by Rev. M. Colson.4. Their children were:4
- IV. Sarah PEIFFER, born February 19, 18177,
who married Solomon GROFF/GRAUF Abt. 18408.
- IV. Benjamin PEIFFER, born January 4, 18197,
who married Susanna LEIBHART1. Together, they
had seven children1.
- IV. Mary Ann PEIFFER, born November 30, 18207,
who married ? NUNEMACHER1.
- IV. Magdalene PEIFFER, born February 3, 18237,
died July 9, 1909, in Saegertown. She married Monroe BEIGE1, son of Peter BEIGE and Charlotte
GOOD9. They had ten children1,10,11.
- IV. Augustus PEIFFER, born August 8, 18267,
married Sarah BEIGE, daughter of Peter BEIGE and Charlotte GOOD9, and, together, they had seven children.
- IV. Susan Caroline PEIFFER, born June 22, 18277, married
Louis WAELDE in about 1854. Susan died September 15,
186212. Their children were:
- V. Charles Edgar WAELDE, born November 14, 1853,13 died March 11, 1922, in Eustis, Fla.12
- V. Otto WAELDE, b. December 22, 1855, died January
3, 1926, in Cleveland, OH.14
- V. Anna H. WAELDE, b. October 26, 1856, Saegertown, died
November 5, 1938 in Mansfield, Ohio.12.
- V. Katherine WAELDE, b. September 9, 1858, died November
22, 1943 in North Perry, Ohio12.
- V. A. Gustave WAELDE, b. December 23, 1860, died June
9, 1940, in Maplewood, Mass.13
- IV. Elizabeth PEIFFER, born December 27, 18287,
married Eli MOYER15.
- IV. Catharine PEIFFER, born January 22, 1830, died
February 18, 18327.
- IV. Matilda PEIFFER, born February 4, 18327, married ? SHAFFER1.
- IV. Samuel M. PEIFFER, born December 12, 18337
, died
July 3, 1863, killed at the Battle of Gettysburg while in
service with Captain Sigler's Company, 150th Regt., PA
Infantry.16
