JAVASCRIPT
JavaScript can add excitement to web sites by adding scrolling sentences and changing headlines. Because JavaScript is a scripting language rather than a programming language, it is easier to learn than Java and can be easily inserted into the HTML code. It also has its limitations.
JavaScript enables dynamic information to be included on the web site. For example, "Good Morning, Afternoon, or Evening," or the name of the visitor can be added to personalize the visitor's surfing experience.
JavaScript can also be used to do things otherwise handled by CGI. CGI works on the server and JavaScript works on the client. This makes JavaScript more interactive because there is no waiting for information to go to server and be returned.
JavaScript can also be used to increase user control which adds to the interactivity of a site. For example, users can change backgrounds and use buttons to toggle displays.
To deny access to certain information, JavaScript can be used to require passwords so that only eligible users can proceed. JavaScript can also be used to control features of a Java Applet.
