    NOTES:
James Burnell had a twin brother "Frank". James ran away from home to join the Civil War in 1862 at the age of 16. He lied about his age to enlist. His daughters, Eva & Minnie told me this story, and I found Civil War records that showed him enlist at the age of 18 and was discharged 2 years later at the age of 18. The sisters also told me that James Burnell changed his name from Barnell when he enlisted. His parents were of upper class income, but I have to find traces of them.

James married Fannie D. Scott. She was only 23 and he was 50 years old. Her parents, who were of upper class, disowned her when she married an older man. They had 2 sons and 2 daughters and divorced in the early 1900's.
