BONAR

Barnet Bonar emigrated from near Edinborough Scotland to America and settled near Harve De Grace. He had a family of six sons and daughters. In 1774 he again moved and settled with his family on of land 1200 A near Coon Island, Washington Co. Pa. and there he is buried in the Presbyterian Church Yard at West Alexander, Pa.  Where also his son William and Grandson Barnet is buried.

Of this family of 6 sons and 5 daughters was a son WILLIAM. William married Sarah McElliott and they had a family of 7 girls and one son. The son was named Barnet.

BARNET married Jane Donahey and they had a family of 4 sons and 5 girls. One of the sons was David.

DAVID married Elizabeth Dickey and they had a family of 14 children.

.

One of the sons also was George Newton who is my husbands (Gerald) Grandfather.

So the line goes Barnet-Williarn-Barnet-David. One thing very confusing is that these are all large families and they keep repeating the names in about every generation.

The first Barnet emigrated from Scotland to Ireland where he married. He and his wife came to America the same year there son William was born.

(My husband Gerald is a son of Kenneth Bonar who was a son of George Newton -who is a son of David & Elizabeth Bonar.

im died in 1956.
