A Father-Daughter Love
The phone rings,
Picking it up..I say..Hello!
Listening closely I hear,
How are you My Dear?
Oh Dad! I am fine..I say.
His reply...
I know you were home from work today.
Are you sure you're ok?
Yes Dad...I am fine.
Just tired I guess.
I see...He says.
Maybe more rest is best.
I laugh and we talk.
He tells me he has been for a walk.
I check on his day,
As that is normally my way.
I hear the tenderness in his voice.
And him calling was his choice.
It brought tears to my eyes,
As I was preparing to say Good Bye.
In my mind, I am thinking of
All the troubles he has of his own.
Parkinson's challenging him daily.
And he worries about me at home.
Thank you Dad for calling on me.
Your little girl is fine...I say.
I hang up the phone..and
It is for him that I pray.
