Roses Of Sharon

I am the Rose of Sharon,
and the Lily of the Valley.
As the lily among thorns,
so is my love among the daughters.

Song of Solomon 2:1-2

The ladies of Roses of Sharon are an amazingly warm and close
group who share their days of joys, sorrows and prayers with
each other. We have many activities going on and our most
important reason for grouping together is to spread the Good
News that Jesus Christ our Saviour is with us.

We come from all walks of life and from all over the world and
keep in constant communication through chats, emails and message
boards. Please feel free to browse through our Directory to
learn more about us.

Below you'll find links to other topics of my website as well

can pay you a visit and get to know you too *s*

Hibiscus Syriacus
popularly known as
Rose of Sharon

Plant Type: Deciduous Shrub
Uses: Ornamental, Border, Hedge, Dried Arrangements
Propagation: Stem cuttings, Seeds
Habit: Spreading, Upright
Light: Full Sun
Flower Color: Various
Blooms: Summer, Autumn
Width: 6 ft.; Height: 8 - 12 ft.
Fertility: Moderately Rich
Soil: Neutral, Well-drained , High, Medium

Grown for its large, showy colors that come in a variety of colors, from
pink and red to dark blue, or white with red centers, this deciduous shrub
is a true old-fashioned favorite. The flower petals have undulating edges
and the leaves are deep green and glossy. They need plenty of moisture
in the growing season and a rich soil.

Full sun is best and you can prune these shrubs in the spring; tip-pruning
for the younger plants and a harder pruning for the older ones so they will
maintain their good shape and bloom production. You should deadhead
faded blooms in the flowering season or the flower size will diminish.
These will self-sow readily. Newer hybrids of this plant are available with
interesting colors and better garden features, such
as fewer seed pods and self-cleaning.

I've dreamed many dreams that never came true.
I've seen them vanish at dawn.
But I've realized enough of my dreams,
Thank God, To make me want to dream on.

I've prayed many prayers, when no answers came,
Though I waited patient and long,
But answers came to enough of my prayers
To make me keep praying on.

I've trusted many a friend that failed.
And left me to weep alone.
But I've found enough of my friends true blue,
To make me keep trusting on.

I've sown many seeds that fell by the way.
For the birds to feed upon,
But I have held enough golden sheaves in my hands,
To make me keep sowing on.

I've drained the cup of disappointment and pain.
And gone many days without song,
But I've sipped enough nectar from the roses of life
To make me want to live on.

Rose of Sharon
Lyrics

Tune: William Billings, 1778
Lyrics: Holy Bible: Song of Solomon 2:1-5,7-8,10-11
Meter: Prose

I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valley.
As the lily among the thorns,
So is my love among the daughters
As the apple tree among the trees of the wood,
So is my beloved among the sons.

I sat down under his shadow with great delight,
And his fruit was sweet to my taste.
He brought me to the banqueting house;
His banner over me was love.
Stay me with flagons,
Comfort me with apples,
For I am sick of love.

I charge you, Oh ye daughters of Jerusalem,
By the roes, and by the hinds of the field,
That you stir not up, nor awake my love till he please.
The voice of my beloved,
Behold! he cometh, leaping upon the mountains,
Skipping upon the hills.

My beloved spake, and said unto me,
Rise up, my love, my fair one.
For lo, the winter is past,
The rain is over and gone.
