LILLIAN BRANTLEY RICHARDSON
Lillian Brantley Richardson was born 16 Jun 1864 to William Brantley Richardson and Margaret Anne Barrett. Lillian was the youngest child.
Her nickname growing up was 'Toad'. A good look at the picture
will confirm why she was called Toad.
Family lore is that William, not having a wife wanted to be rid of his daughter's as soon as possible so Lillian was married to a man 20 years her senior at age 15. Lillian's husband Norris Palmer Eccleston disappeared.
The date is unknown when he left, but it is known that Lillian became a 'kept' woman by Sion Buchanan of Sanford, Lee County, NC. She bore him a child, Daisy Pauline. Sion built a house in Jonesboro (Sanford) that had all the amenities of the day, according to my great grandmother, Lucy Lee Eccleston Sears.
The house burned down in 1905. Sion left Lillian an legacy in his will, evidently she took the money and purchased a boarding house in Norfolk VA, where she lived until her death in 1945.
