Daycare biting scare resolved

Rick White and Tamara Abbey recently learned the biting problem experienced at their son's daycare was resolved when the offender was "unenrolled."

"I can't beleive they let my son get bitten three times in four days," White said about the experience. "I think they should have kicked the kid out a long time ago."

Abbey was also concerned about the situation.

"I know toddlers are going to have some problems," she said. "But, now we have to worry about what Alex is really learning at this daycare."

White and Abbey initially believed the daycare would be an excellent place for their child since it is affiliated with the Lutheran Church.

"I guess I should understand that a church-based program will give all the children every benefit," she added.

"Yet, they should be more careful about the rest of the students."

Since the "unenrollment" of the biter, Alex White has been extremely happy with daycare.

"He runs to the door, shoes in hand," Abbey said. "He gets very upset if he thinks he's getting left behind."

Alex is also adjusting in other ways. He now takes better naps and seems to participate more in play groups. The teachers are also impressed by how well he eats.

"He just has great days at school now," added his aunt Jan. She continues to take him to daycare and pick him up while the family waits to sell their house downstate.

"His teachers say he just jumps right in and plays and plays," she said. "He's even doing better now with his special blanket. I guess he just keeps on playing instead of always ducking out of the group to get it."
