What is a Custom Report, and how can I set one up?

A Custom Report is one of several kinds of reports available within FTM. If you click on Report button, you will get whatever kind of Custom Report was last selected. Once that report has displayed, you can click Format/Report Format to see a list of other types, including: Custom Report, 2 kinds of Kinship Report, Data Error Report, and seven others. Select the kind that you want. 

Once you have selected Custom Report, you can tailor it to your specifications by selecting the information to be displayed in two orthogonal ways, under Contents: 

  1. Items to Include: (Columns, Horizontally), by selecting the column content and positioning 
  2. Individuals to Include: (Rows, Vertically), by selecting which persons are displayed
You can further tailor your report by selecting other options (e.g. Sort) under Content and Format. Take a few moments to play with them to get a feel for their effects.
