Camelids on Your Acreage

The Llama is a woolly sort of fleecy hairy goat
With an indolent expression and an undulating throat
Like an unsuccessful literary man.

Hilaire Belloc

As an acreage owner, you are not likely looking at llamas as a commercial investment--you do not have the room for a commercial herd. Instead, you are considering camelids, particularly llamas or alpacas, as pets or companion animals.

Since this is your objective, you will want to own at least two. Why two? Llamas and alpacas are very sociable animals, and like the company of another animal of their kind.
