The earliest camelids evolved forty million years ago on the plains of central North America.
The earliest camelid was a small animal, not much different in size from the ancestor of the modern horse--the eohippis, or dawn horse.

Human Events I have tried to select events in human history that occurred in parts of the world where camelids are common. For example, most listed new world events happened in South America because that is where camelids were usually found in the new world.
