Below I will state information exerpted from the Swisher
Family Reunion notebooks.
These reunions were held in the
Catawba, Marion County, WV area ca. 1917 to mid 1900's.
The "Necrology Committee" did NOT report ALL the years this
notebook covers.
I will put the date the reunion was held, which also corresponds
with the date the Necrology Committee made it's report.
(If you have not read about the Swisher Reunions of 1917-1924. The "Necrology Committee" reported the deaths of the previous year at each reunion.)

Report of committee on Necrology as handed in and accepted- We your committee on necrology report as follows . Death has come into our family five times since our last meeting Mrs Alcinda Malone died Apr 26 aged 58 yrs. Mrs Amanda Swisher Summers died July 13 aged 85 years. Mr Lantz Mahaffy died June 25 aged 47 yrs Master Robert Guy Holt died July 27 age 11 yrs 1 mo. This association extends its sympathy to the bereaved families who mourn the loss of these loved ones. But we have the glad conselation that they have gone to that country where family reunions shall never end.

Mrs. Cora Swisher .((They ONLY listed 5 here)) . Charlie Haun made the motion to drop the flower committee as the Swisher family was to large a family a vote was taken and carried to drop it and the amount of $5.71 added to the treas. which was done.

Necrology Comm reported one death in the year that of Mrs. Emma Swisher of Winfield died in August 1939.((Emma was listed as one of the program committee members attending the reunion meeting the last Sunday in July))
After the reunion Mrs Maud Barker sent me report of the death of Wm N. Swisher, Son of Napolean & Mary Ann Russell Swisher died Sept 19-1939 age 68. died at Morgansville Doddridge Co.

Jeremiah Lester Malone age 62 years, died September 1, 1942. He was a son of Mrs. Levina Malone. . Josephine Kisner died December-1941 . George C. Haun died August 28, 1942. He was 69 years of age. . Howard Swisher died in July 1942 in Ohio. He was the son of Nelson Swisher . We have on record 103 deaths since the Swisher Reunion was organized.
27th Reunion
Sept 5 1943Report of Committees: Hyson Swisher was the Chairman of Necrology Committee. Reported 5 deaths in the year. . Mrs. Jennie Hovatter died July 18, 1943. She was 81 years of age. . Miss Emma Swisher died January 3, 1943 . Mr. John Clevenger died Sunday, Aug. 15 in his home at Rivesville. He was aged 77 years . Mrs. Florence Butler died in her home in Oakland Maryland. . Mr. R. L. Waters died July 10, 1943 at Morgantown.

Henry High delivered an Address. He recognized Mr. M. W. Harris, S. S. Swisher, Aunt Sally Powell and Mr. Stansberry as the oldest members there.

Next was the report by the Necrology Committee of five deaths in the family during the last year. They were: . Mrs. Mildred Joliffe Haun, age 34, died February 12, 1946. . Mr. C. E. Swisher, age 71, died August 14, 1946. . Mr. Harry Summers, died 1946. . Alma Jane Swisher, daughter of Paul and Mary Swisher of Clarksburg, died August 16, 1946. Age 2 1/2 . Mrs. Christiana Powell, wife of C. D. Powell; died August 28, 1946 ........ A few words were then given by Aunt Sally Powell who was 95 years old and Mother of the Reunion.
31st Reunion Sept 7 1947
Next was the report of the necrology committee of four deaths in the family during the past year. They were: . Mr. Marshall W. Harris, died Sept 11, 1946. Aged 87-who had served as President of the Swisher association for 28 years. . Mrs. Betty Clayton Swisher Age 59. Wife of N.W. Swisher, died April 30, 1947. . Mrs Mollie Summers died last spring 1947. Aged 77, wife of Harry Summers. She was buried in the Catawba Cemetery. . Charlie Swisher of Fairmont son of Frank Swisher of Winfield.
