Wegian Dog Hi - My name is Jo, and I live in Western Montana with my husband, Harold, four elkies,Rambo, Gretchen, Kvass and PJ, and two cats, Samee and Cotton. The four dogs and two cats seem to get along pretty well, surprisingly enough. In fact, the cats like to rub up against the dogs, but I can't say the dogs seem to appreciate that much! Gretchen left us in November of 2002. She has been sorely missed.
I first became interested in Norwegian elkhounds in the early 1960's. A friend of my son's brought a puppy to visit, and we all fell in love with the little 'bear'. At the time we couldn't afford to buy a dog. We had two dogs already, one from the humane society (we were told it was elkhound, but it turned out otherwise), and the other, a little orphan we found and adopted. They both brought us a great deal of joy. They were named Shami and Corky. But I never forgot the beautiful little puppy I had seen. In 1978 our last dog passed away and it was very lonely without a pet. The kids were grown then and gone from home. To our surprise, they presented us with a lovely little puppy, whom we called 'Wegian'. She was a delight to own, and we loved her to the end in 1989.
In 1989 we found two young elkies, 9 months old. Actually we brought home the little girl, whom we named 'Gretchen' first. Her litter brother was so upset that we returned the following week and brought 'Rambo' home. They settled in and it was as if they had lived with us forever. Then in 1992, I got the urge to have a show dog. After much consideration, I bought a puppy whom I named Kvass, which in Norwegian means 'bright'. And bright he is, as are most elkies. He didn't develop into a show dog, but I had great fun learning with him. .
In 1996, Norgrens Jobels Pride'n'Joy came to live with us. She certainly has fit in nicely.
Then in January of 2003, Radar came to live with us. He is a live wire and keeps everyone in shape.
My other interests are the computer, reading, sewing and did I mention dogs???

I took a class at the Virtual University in HTML. I didn't think I would ever do a homepage, what did I have to put on one?? Then I found a couple of tutorials, and thus began my venture into building a homepage. I have found working with HTML to be fascinating. It just seems there is no end to what you can learn. I have never used an editor, just enjoy working with the HTML.
