I've accepted a "challenge" and an invitation to SHARE something with everyone and am now enlisting the help of all members.
I am going to make lap robes and twin size coverlets for the Ronald McDonald House. For the last 5 years I have assisted in setting up Christmas Decorations and miniature villages for the children to enjoy that must be in the hospital and the Ronald McDonald House during that time.
This year I wanted to do something extra special for these little ones, so I came upon a large mass of "BRAIN GAS" and thought of this idea. Many times they just want to cuddle up in something and have nothing of their own to take with them or travel back and forth to therapy sessions.
So I am enlisting the HELP of each of you to send me one or more designs that I can use on my SINGER EU (Poem) to put into these pieces. Of course, it would be even greater if you had them already in CSD format so I wouldn't have to lose time in transferring them, but is not a problem at all. Please, please, please, if you do send something, be sure to state how you wish your name to be embroidered in the corner of the design. If you wish your state/country there, also please state this.
We will make presentation on 14 December.
At this time I have 1400 squares of fabric cut, and overlocked the edges in a light blue. The connecting strips are of a darker blue. We felt blue to be the better choices to show off most designs. Use of Holiday Fabric would only serve the purpose for that time frame, and these kids need these things all year. The backing will be of the light blue and a thin layer of batting will be placed between. We will tie corners with bright coloured yarns.
If you can feel it in your heart to support these kids, and my personal project, I would be eternally grateful. Thanks again for all the kindness each of you show to one another here. Bless you, one and all.

Out of this grew a list wide endeavor to supply most of the
squares to Denis so that part of the task will be taken care of.
The guidelines follow:
RONALD MCDONALD KIDS
L A P / R O B E D E S I G N S
Denis Special project of making lab robes and coverlet for Ronald McDonald kids.
People can choose:
1) Embroider a design on 6x6" bedsheet-type-fabric, adding your 'signature and location' in the bottom right corner of the design. Mail your 6"x6" piece to Denis. Denis will then put the squares together with a dark blue binding, a light batting and a light blue backing.
Or
2) Email .csd files to Denis to sew out. Include your name and location in your email. Denis will embroider on 6x6" squares with layouts of: Small= 5 x 7 squares (18 are blank, 18 are embroidered) Larger= 7 x 9 squares (31 are blank, 32 are embroidered) Denis will then put the squares together with a dark blue binding, a light batting and a light blue backing.
Or
3) People can send their own creation of an
entire lap robe or coverlet. The finished size would be appx 34
x 46 or 46 x 58.
Financial donations for purchase of
batting/backing are also welcome.
