All Scouts Day

What is All Scouts Day?

All the Scouts (Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Cadette, Senior, Cub, and Boy Scouts) participate in the weekend activities during the first weekend of June.

The Activities begin on Friday evening with the older Scouts (Juniors and up) and Boy Scouts camping out in North Olmsted Park.  On Saturday morning there is a parade for all Scout units. After the parade there is a ceremony honoring Scouts and Scouters from the units of the city.  After lunch all Scouts can participate in the afternoon activities, which may be demonstrations or skills contests.  In the evening we have a bonfire with songs and skits for everyone.  Following the bonfire there is a pre-teen and teen dance for those Scouts who are camping out on Saturday night.   Sunday morning we have church services for Catholic and Protestant.  Everyone is invited to attend church, even those units that did not camp out.

Some special activities which take place before the weekend starts are:

  • Patch design contest
The contest is open to all Scouts. The winning design will be made into a patch that will be used for the weekend. The winner will receive a ribbon and some free patches for their troop.
  • Poster contest
All Scouts may do a poster for All Scouts Day. The poster will be displayed during the weekend and the winners from each age group will receive ribbons. The theme of the poster should reflect the theme for All Scouts Day.
  • Float contest
All scout units may design a non-motorized float for the parade. The theme should be that of the All Scouts Day theme. Ribbons will be presented to winners in each age group.
  • Mr. and Mrs. Scouting
Each year an outstanding male and female leader who is active in the scouting program for North Olmsted are chosen as Mr. and Mrs. Scouting.
  • Honorary Officials
Each year outstanding Scouts from Cadette and Senior units and Boy Scouts of Life Rank or higher are nominated to represent our city officials. The Scouts chosen participate in a mock Council meeting annd attend the activities on Saturday morning with their real counterpart.
