He is an American Eskimo, born December 26, 1990.
The American Eskimo is a beautiful, dog who has been in the United States for about 100 years. In that time he has aquired many names "Spitz", "Eskimo Spitz" and "American Spitz" are the most common. But American Eskimo is the correct name.
The American Eskimo most likely came to the United States from England or Germany. The large white spitz [ Weiser Grossspitz] could be the progenitor of our American Eskimo.
The American Eskimo comes in three sizes Toy 9-12 inches, Minitures 13-15 inches and the Standard 16-19 inches at the shoulder. Fluffer is a Toy [12 inches] and Boomer is a Standard size [16 3/8 inches].
To his family, the American Eskimo is entirely devoted. He has a tendency to be wary of strangers. But he is not aggressive.
The American Eskimo was bred for a companion dog. They are very clever dogs with an incredible ability to learn. There are few breeds who are better suited as a house dog and family pet. Their life span is 18-20 years.
