II Thessalonians Chapter 2 1-2~~Now we make an urgent request of you, brethren, under the authority of the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ {the doctrine of the rapture} and by our gathering {as a guard of Honor} together around Him 2~~ that you not receive disturbance from the ultimate source of your mind or 'blow your cork'   {be so nervous you could scream}: neither by spirit {mislead by demons}, nor by word {false teachers}, nor by letter as from us {forged epistles}, as that the day of the Lord   {2nd advent at the END of the Tribulation} is just about here. 3-4~~ Let no one deceive you thoroughly {prohibitive subjunctive} according to THEIR norms or standards . . . for that day shall not come except if there first comes THE departure   {removal of the Church then the Tribulation will begin} and the man of lawlessness {erroneously often called 'sin'} shall then begin to receive revealing . . . the son of perdition {destruction, ruin} . . . 4~~ who opposes and exhaults himself above all that is designated god   {he will combine military and 'religion' and he will head it} or all that is the object of worship . . . with the result that he is caused to sit in the temple of God   {pseudo-copying of Jesus sitting at the right hand of the Father -   this man will put an image of the man of sin in the temple   attempting to glorify him and through him, Satan} and as so proclaims himself {as God}. {Note: Paul is stating that the Tribulation will NOT occur until the Church departs to meet Christ in the Sky. THEN will be revealed the man of lawlessness and not before. And this man is also called 'the son of perdition'. This is a term only used for Judas and for the 'man of lawlessness''. In both of these cases, the unbelievers are indwelled by Satan himself! The man of sin is literally- 'the man of the lawlessness' . . . Satan's man shall most likely lead a revolution against God in the Tribulation.} 5~~Do you not remember when I was yet face to face with you {indicates a teaching situation}, I constantly taught you these things? 6~~And so you know The One Who restrains {God the Holy Spirit} for the purpose that he {man of lawlessness} might receive disclosure in his own 'historical era'/dispensation   {Tribulation}. {Note: God the Holy Spirit 'holds back'/restrains the man of lawlessness until the Church is removed. This indicates that man of lawlessness belongs to a different dispensation - the Tribulation - the continuation of the Jewish Age - Daniel's 70th week.} 7~~For the mystery of lawlessness is already operational {intensification of the angelic conflict}. And the One Who now restrains {God the Holy Spirit} will continue that ministry until He is taken out of the way. {Note: The original meaning of 'mystery' was of secret doctrines known only to those in the Greek 'fraternity'. Here it means Church Age believers.} {Note: The Church Age is the most intensified stage of the Angelic Conflict. But Satan's works continue to be held back by God the Holy Spirit. After the rapture of the church, the pivot of believers is removed and God will stop restraining Satan and the Tribulation will be just horrible.} 8~~And at THAT time {in the Tribulation} . . . the lawless one shall receive revealing . . . whom the Lord Jesus will annihilate   {Christ will personally kill this man} with the breath of His mouth. In fact shall neutralize him by means of the glamorous display of His coming {2nd Advent here}. {Note: Two separate 'lawlessnesses' are in view here. First, the man of lawlessness will be known only in the Tribulation. Second, the doctrines of lawlessness are revealed in the Church Age . . . since all doctrines about the Church Age were held back from the Old Testament believers.} 9~~Whose {man of lawlessness} presence in history . . . shall be according to the modus operandi of Satan with all power . . . and by means of miracles . . . even wonder miracles of the lie. {Note: The lie is the whole realm of satanic doctrine. In the Tribulation, this man of lawlessness will be the puppet of Satan himself. He will create pseudo miracles etc to fool the world of unbelievers that this man is a deity himself.} {Followers of the man of lawlessness} 10~~And by means of all deception of unrighteousness to those who are being 'led astray'/ deprived/ ruined/destroyed/'caused to perish' {apollumi} because they have not received the love {mental agape love} of the Truth/doctrine . . . in order that they might be delivered or saved. {Note: Apollumi has the tense of a tendential (sic) present . . . which means the action has not taken place, but syntax says it is a future certainty. Paul is writing what he is told by God the Holy Spirit. But this syntax indicates that Paul is not happy that these people have negative volition and will be utterly destroyed - caused to perish.} 11~~ And so for this reason {negative volition} . . . the God shall send them . . . the active energy of false opinion   {motus operendi of delusion and error} so that they might believe the lie. 12~~ In order that they all might be judged and/or condemned because they have not believed the truth - to their disadvantage - but because they have taken pleasure in unrighteousness. 13~~ But we {believers} are always obligated to give thanks to God concerning you {the pivot of mature believers in a client   nation}, brethren {Royal Family} . . . having been loved by the Lord because The God has elected you from before the beginning {eternity past} with the result of salvation by means of set-apart-ness {sanctification} from the Spirit {God} and by means of faith in doctrine {the Truth}. 14~~ Into which {salvation} He called you by means of our gospel   {by our response to the gospel we use our free will or volition to   accept Christ} to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ   {Super-Grace life}. 15~~Therefore, brethren, stand fast (!) {command to be consistent}, and seize and hold {GAP} the categories of doctrine which you have been taught by word . . . even by our epistle. 16~~Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, having loved us, and has given us eternal encouragement and good of intrinsic value hope {of eternity future} by means of grace. {Application of Doctrine to Experience} 17~~ Comfort your right lobes {with doctrine inculcation} and stabilize yourself in the sphere of every good word and work.
