Colossians
Chapter
2
1-3~~
I purpose
for
all of you Colossians to know
how
great a combat I keep on having on your behalf,
and
for those in Laodicea,
and
for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh . . . 2~~
that
their own right lobes might be encouraged,
having
been taught
by
means of a relaxed mental attitude {love, filling of the spirit}
resulting in all the wealth
of
full assurance from the source of technical knowledge,
resulting
in the epignosis of THE mystery of THE God
from
the source of Christ 3~~
in
Whom {Christ} are stored up all the treasures of wisdom
and
knowledge.
4~~
This I keep communicating . . .
that
no one distort you by plausible but false discourse.
5~~
For, if I also in the flesh am absent, and I am,
yet
by means of the spirit, I am together with you . . .
being
happy and inspecting your steadiness in ranks,
and
the solid front of your faith doctrine toward Christ.
6~~
As you have therefore, so received Christ Jesus the Lord,
so
walk you all in Him.
7~~
Rooted and built up in Him,
and
constantly being by means of faith,
as
you have been taught,
constantly
overflowing with the goodness of grace.
8~~
Constantly be on your guard that there will not be anyone
who
will capture and enslave you
through
human speculation - even empty deceit -
according
to the pseudo-traditions of mankind {example: Judaism}, according to
the basic teachings of the cosmos systems,
and
not according to the teachings of Christ.
9-10~~For
in Him {Christ} dwelt
all
the Fullness of God/'Pleroma tu theo'
in
bodily form {Humanity of Christ in the hypostatic union} 10~~
and
in Him you have been made complete . . .
Who
is the head of all principality and power.
11~~In
Whom {Christ} also
we
have been circumcised {spiritual circumcision}
by
means of a circumcision not accomplished with hands,
but
by the renunciation of the essence of the old sin nature
by
means of the circumcision of THE Christ.
12~~
Having been buried with Him
by
means of THE baptism { spiritual baptism},
by
means of which {baptism}
you
have been raised up with Christ
through
faith in the operational power from the source of the God, having
raised Him out from the deaths.
Note: Deaths here is plural. Christ died twice on the cross. First, Christ died spiritually on the cross for our sins, then He died physically because His work was done - 'it is finished' - two deaths!}
13~~And
when you were dead by your transgressions
and
by the uncircumcision from your flesh,
He,
having graciously forgiven us all our transgressions,
has
given you {believer only} life together with Him.
14~~
Having canceled the certificate of indebtedness against us
(by
means of the decrees) . . .
which
{IOU} kept on being hostile to us {the old sin nature},
and
He removed it {sins} permanently out of the way as a barrier,
having
nailed it to THE cross.
{Note: This is a written form of indebtedness. We all owe God - perfect righteousness, and sinlessness -the way He made man - sinless - then Adam and Eve sinned, and we are now born dead spiritually - impossible for us to payoff on our own. The decrees were created in eternity past and were canceled at the cross.}
15~~
Having disarmed
demon
archeons {military rulers of demon armies}
and
commissioned officers . . .
He
made a public display of them
having
celebrated a triumphant procession over them
by
means of Him {Christ}.
16-17~~
Consequently,
STOP
allowing anyone to judge you in eating and drinking,
or
in the matter of a feast, or of the new month, or of the Sabbaths.
{Note: This is refering to 'legalism'. Someone trying to tell you that you have to follow rituals of the Jewish Age.}
17~~
Which {rituals} kept on being a shadow
of
those things about to come,
but
the reality is from the source of Christ.
{Note: the Jewish Age rituals were 'shadows' of the reality that was and is Christ. The Jewish Age looked forward to the cross. The Church age looks back on the cross}.
18-19~~
Let no one deprive you
of
reward {mature believers' rewards in heaven}
taking
pleasure in self-effacement
and
in worship of angels {or demons},
taking
a stand on the things which you have seen:
dreams,
visions, trances, hallucinations . . .
being
inflated with arrogance
under
the influence of THE thinking
from
the source of his old sin nature . . . 19~~
and
not occupied with the Head {Christ},
from
Whom all the body,
through
joints and ligaments
being
supplied {through the bible},
and
being taught {by the pastor-teacher},
keeps
on growing, with the growth from the source of God.
20-22~~
Since you have died together with Christ
-
and you have -
from
the ultimate source of the elementary principals of the world, why -
as living in the world -
are
you constantly submitting to legalism (?) 21~~
(legalism
like 'you shall not touch sex,
you
shall not taste forbidden foods,
nor
shall you touch anyone for the purpose of harming' - 22~~
all
of which things are intended
for
destruction by the users
{three taboo classifications that will destroy you if used}) . . .
according
to the ordinances and doctrine of men?
23~~
Which categories of things
indeed
have a reputation of wisdom
by
means of a self-made system of religion
based
on emotionalism,
and
extreme self-effacement,
and
the neglecting of the body {asceticism}.
They
are NOT of any value against self-gratification
from
the source of the old sin nature.
