A great place to share and get ideas for parties!
Family Fun-
This magazine has a birthday blowout issue every year and you can get to the cream of the crop on thier website. I love this site!
This party does not involve actually camping out! When we did it for Kelsey's 5th birthday we simply set up the tent in the backyard and let the kids go for it! For food we had hot dogs over an open fire and smores. Also trail mix and toasted marshmellows. For favors I gave each kid a flashlight and some more trail mix. It was a huge success!
We are actually planning on doing this party for Kelsey's 6th birthday. We will have several games set up which include: Pick-a-duck, Ring toss, Bean Bag toss and knock down the soda cans. Every child will recieve a bunch of tickets when they arrive and each game will cost a certain number of tickets to play. Prizes will be given. There will also be face painting (done by me) and (maybe) a moon jump. We are debating on that one right now :). We will have Pizza and french fries for food along with candied apples, cotton candy and popcorn. The cake will be a carosel cake that I will make like this: Bake one 9" and one 8" layer. Place the 8 on top of the 9 and then frost. Take six Carosel horse(bought them at a party store) candles placed around the edges of the 8" layer. Place long(long enough that it sticks out about 3" out of the cake) wooden skewer in the center of the cake and tie six thin ribbons to it. Then take one ribbon and attach it to the top of the 8"layer directly behind a horse candle. Do this with all the ribbons. Remember to remove them before lighting the candles. At the end of the night each child will recieve a small beanie as they leave (in addition to whatever prizes they win). I'll let you know how it goes!
UPDATE: Kelsey's party was a big sucess! Everyone had a great time and many prizes were rwon by all. We decided NOT to rent the bouncer ($125 was just too much money) but hey had a fun time anyway :).
Oat ring (you know c******) Party-
The perfect party for a 1 year old! For snacks have oat ring marshmellow squares (like krispy rice one's, but substitute oat rings), oat ring party mix (use them instead of chex) and fried oat ring (fry them in a pan with some butter and a little salt, tastes kinda like popcorn). For a cake, you could use one of several ideas. 1. Make a rectangular sheet cake and decorate it like the box. 2.Make a cake in a 2qt bakable glass mixing bowl and decorate it like a cereal bowl. 3. Make a regular layer (or even bundt)cake and decorate it to look like a giant oat ring. You could even have the older kids make necklaces out of them for an activity.
I'm just getting started on this page so please check back again!
