CORNBREAD

2/3 cup yellow cornmeal
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
2 T sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground red pepper
1 egg, beaten
2 T shortening, melted
2 T milk
8 oz sour cream

Combine dry ingredients until well blended. Make a well in center of mixture. Combine egg, shortening, milk and sour cream; add to dry ingredients, stirring just until moistened. Spoon batter into a greased 8" square pan. Bake at 425 degrees for 5 minutes or until golden brown.
