BEEF STROGANOFF

1 1/2 lbs round steak
8 oz canned sliced mushrooms
12 oz sour cream
4 oz white wine
2 T chopped onion
2 T Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp nutmeg
1 T chopped chives
1 tsp minced garlic

Cut meat into 1/2-inch thick strips. Saute the onions in a little butter until brown. Add meat to the pan with onions. Sear quickly to avoid overcooking the meat. Add mushrooms; stir in the wine, nutmeg and garlic. Reduce heat and cook for about 5 minutes. Add sour cream, Worcestershire sauce, and chives, and simmer until it almost boils. Serve over noodles.
