My Links To Country Music

One of my favorite pastimes is listening to country music and going to see my favorite artists in concerts. While most kids my age prefer rock, rap, or alternative music, I have always loved country. I feel the words in country music songs tell a story about real life.

There are many great singers in country music today. I listen to many different artists and groups, but there are several that I list among my favorite artists. They are Tracy Lawrence, Ty England, Garth Brooks, and Kenny Rogers.

I have had the pleasure of meeting numerous country artists and have become like a friend to some. Tracy L., Ty E., and Garth B. have become close pals of mine. I love to go see them perform live in concert. They each put on a fantastic show, and if you've never seen a live show, you should see one of theirs. They are real caring people, who have made me feel very special when I am around them. I always look forward to seeing them when they are close by. My favorite songs by them would have to be: Texas Tornado by Tracy, Smoke In Her Eyes by Ty, and The Dance by Garth.

Last summer, I had one of my dreams come true, when I got to go spend five nights in Nashville, Tennessee. I got to go to Fan Fair and meet a lot of singers, see some of Nashville, and attend Ty's fan club party, where he sang a special song to me. I hope to go back this summer and maybe meet more artists to add to my autograph collection. I also plan to attend Tracy's fan club party and Ty's party again. I'd like to see the Grand Ole Opry this summer also.

August 21, 1997-- I would like to add several more names to my growing list of country artists. The first is Kevin Sharp. Kevin has made his way into the music business after undergoing one of the toughest battles of his entire life, having to Beat Cancer when he was just about to finish high school! A lot of his music can reflect on the obstacles he had to overcome. My favorite song of his would have to be Nobody Knows . I finally got to meet him last week, and he was a real nice person. The only disappointment I had that night was having his show cancelled, due to bad weather and being outside. Next time I will get to hear him sing.

The second artist that is new to the music business is Mila Mason. She finally had her dream in the music business come true when she got her record deal with Atlantic Records. Her first c-d, That's Enough Of That, has already produced several chart topping songs. My favorite of hers is Dark Horse so far. Another good song on the c-d is That's The Kind Of Love (That I'm Talking About). I also, had the pleasure of meeting Mila last week. She performed a great set of songs before the weather turned bad. She was very sweet and we had a nice talk. I hope to see her again sometime and I can't wait for her next c-d, because she sang a song that I really fell in love with that will be on it.

September 30, 1997** Well, my big wish finally came true a week ago, I GOT TO GO TO THE GRAND OLE OPRY! I had so much fun and really enjoyed the night. The only disappointment was finding that Tracy had to cancel his appearance because he had lost his voice a few nights before. While in Nashville, we went to the Country Music Hall of Fame Museum. I saw a lot of neat and cool things there, including the Ty England smashed guitar from the This is Garth Brook's special. We went and ate at the Planet Hollywood. After a tiring weekend, we went back to Little Rock for my treatments.
