WHERE CAN I LEARN REIKI?
It is thought that Reiki was originally practised as part of Tibetan Buddhism, but it was rediscovered in the 19th century by Dr. Mikao Usui after spending 14 years studying Sanskrit texts.  Eventually, after meditating on a mountain for 21 days, he received the gift of channelling energy.

This gift has been passed down and if you are interested in practising Reiki, you need to attend classes to learn how to tune into this universal life force, before you can use it to heal.
How can you receive the gift?

Reiki is open to anyone who wants to learn the art of healing, before you can act as a channel for the energy, you need to receive attunements.  I liken this to fine tuning a musical instrument or even tuning in a radio or television set - this allows you to play your new instrument beautifully, rather than off key!

Reiki is taught by a Reiki Master either face to face in a workshop situation, or on-line via the internet.  There are three levels of attunement.  Some Masters will do all three at one workshop, over a period of 2 or 3 days; others prefer to attune one stage at a time, with a reasonable period of time in between, which allows for personal adjustment to this new experience.  Often the recipient will experience a "healing crisis" after an attunement, their body needs to adjust to its new energy levels and a period of de-toxification is not unusual.

FIRST DEGREE - at this level you will receive basic instruction, and will be attuned to the healing rays so that you can start to explore working with Reiki.

SECOND DEGREE - at this level you will be attuned to the sacred Reiki symbols which allow you to work on a much broader scale: including distance healing.

REIKI MASTER - further sacred symbols are given, as well as instruction in how to attune others.  The masters course is much more demanding but is necessary if you want to go on to teach Reiki yourself.

Once you are a channel for this universal energy, it cannot be taken from you - it remains with you for life.
