Jesus Comes into my Life

Meditations translated from the book
"Pray with your Heart"
by Father Slavko Barbaric, of Medjugorje

My God and My Lord, I fervently wish to dedicate these moments of my life to you. Calm my heart. Help me abandon myself entirely to you. Don't allow my words to be empty ones. Let each one I pronounce bring me one step closer to You. Enlighten my mind and open my heart so that Your Word can grow in me like a seed of faith, hope and love. May it grow in me as it grew in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary, one She - humbly - became the Lord's slave. Help me give myself to You too, and become your faithful slave. I believe in You, Father, and in Your Son and in the Holy Spirit, Amen.

The Annunciation

Mary, you did not hesitate and instant before saying God's will be done. You must have been confused, Mary, but the Holy Spirit guided you to accept the Heavenly invitation. You knew God so well! You always walked in His Presence.

You gave Him your life, because you were expecting the promised Messiah. You could not believe you were the chosen Virgin upon whom the Holy Spirit would descend so that Emmanuel, "God with us", could be conceived. That was the cause of your initial confusion, but that

confusion was not that of the selfish, proud men, but that of the poor of God, who humbly wish to do only God's Will, without boast or presumption.

Mary, it is not surprising that You would feel joy too, the Dawn that would put an end to the darkness had been conceived in your womb, thus beginning the so long awaited day of Salvation.

Maybe you had other plans when God came in Your life with His wonderful plan. But You, the humblest of his slaves, immediately opened the door to your heart. Your example, Mary, leads me to turn to God and say: "Oh, Lord, come to me, my soul awaits You and my heart welcomes you! Come in my plans and in my dreams. Come into my life and I will always be your slave. I know I am not worthy to have you live within me, but I also know that you love sinners and always look for them. That is why, Lord, come in my darkness, in my problems, in my sorrows. Come in those areas where sin has pushed You out. Come in also in all aspects of my life where I have preferred to do my will instead of Yours. Come in now. Do it as I pray and meditate in front of the cross of Your Son Jesus, and before the image of His Blessed Mother, who conceived Him by Grace of the Holy Spirit.

Mary visits Her cousin Isabel

Mary, you hurried to your cousin Isabel's side. You wanted to help her and keep her company while the time arrived for her to give birth to her son.

It is the Will of God that we take Jesus to the life of others, once He has entered our lives. We must take Jesus to others who are sad, or in the middle of difficult situations and sorrows.

Mary, help me grow in the love of all who suffer. May my love for them be so strong that I may be able to recognize Jesus in each and every one of my brothers and sisters who suffer.

Our Lord is Born

Oh, Mary, you gave birth to the Word, and became the Mother of Salvation. You who agreed to become the slave, are now the Mother.

The Lord exalts the humble, and that is why You have been chosen to be the Mother of God.

You gave birth to Him who the prophets had announced and the just awaited.

Mary, God has entered my life, as I asked Him to. I have also told Him, "I am your slave". But the fruits of my service have not turned me into everyone's brother or sister. Oh, Mother of My God, ask Him to take away from my life any ties that put an obstacle to my being a true witness of His Presence in my life. Do it now, as I bow to adore Him.

The Presentation

The moment has arrived for your Child to be presented before the Heavenly Father, so that Salvation can at last come to mankind. Surely, you must have said something like: "God, here is My Son. He is the fruit of My womb, but He is Yours first as I wish to be Yours, with all my heart."

Mother, I am also beside you in the temple, and before the Lord. Please, present me before Him as you did with Jesus. He has given me everything, and I give Him everything. I do not wish to keep anything for myself.

Jesus is found in the Temple

I watch you, Mary, bringing up your Child with great responsibility. You had taken Him to the temple for the Passover celebration. The joy of that day turned into great sorrow for you because, for three days, you did not know where your Son was.

But your sorrow did not keep you

from doing God's will. You went looking for your Child, and your perseverance was rewarded with a new joy, Mary.

As I meditate these mysteries, Mary, I discover how it was that God, after having entered your life, prepared you for each great sacrifice, and gave you great Graces after each.

Encouraged by these thoughts, in the face of each trial or fear I say once more: "here I am, Lord. Come into my life. I want to do Your Will, as Mary did, even through difficult times. I want all my crosses and difficulties to produce new encounters with You."

Thank you, Lord, for allowing me to meditate on your arrival to the life of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Thank you also for having prepared Her to receive You. You certainly did great things for Her. Now I know that you will not leave me alone, because You have already entered my life. Guide me and give me the Grace of allowing myself to be guided by you, Amen.
