Notes from Gen. Dic. of ME & NH, by Noyes, page 128: "CARLE, forename, from Carolus. CARLE, Richard. One Richard partook in an eloping party in 1650, (see Geo. Way) In Dover in 1655 R.C. had occasion to promise not to sleep in the house of John Bursley's wife, Susannah (Wyeth), unless another woman slept with her. If Em = Amie, he peph m.her sister Em Wyeth, stepdau. of Samuel Greenfield. His wife was Amie in 1682, with a d. Amie m. to Samuel Knight. Taxed in Dover 1657. Lists 356ab. Living in Spruce Creek, Kit., bef.1622, later on 15 a. gr. in Great Bay, Eliot, which he sold off, 1676, 1682, 1693. + or - 70 in 1697.
