Current Projects

Clothing, Toys and School Supplies collection - Since 1998, the Foundation periodically collects and sends items to the school and to the most needy families. Due to the generosity of Express Travel Agency in Stamford, CT, we are able to ship for less than $1/pound.

Charissa Potrafka, our volunteer in Virginia Beach, VA, USA, was very busy packing boxes of donated clothes and shoes. She gathered about 1,000 pounds of clothing for the families in Pogorzel. Her church (Sovereing Grace Church of Chesapeake - also in VA, USA) donated a large percentage of the clothing. There were so many boxes of clothing that the Foundation's founder, Krzysztof Swat, had to rent a trailer to get all of it to Conneticut so it could be shipped to Poland.

Future Education Project - Some older children would like to continue their education and attend college but they cannot afford it. The Foundation sponsored, Marcin, a 19-year-old boy who dreamed of going to college. The total cost was $700 for two years of study. Marcin has now graduated from the two year program. He recently signed up for the next two years, which he will be able to pay for himself, as he has found temporary work. Marcin's brother is now being sponsored in the same program. In exchange for having their schooling paid for, they are obligated to pay back to the community in the future. How they give back to the community is up to them.

This is Marcin Grazul, our new graduate, with the sponsor and founder, Elzbieta Zaremba-Swat.

Fruits and gifts for Christmas and Easter - Every Christmas and Easter, 500 lbs of oranges, bananas and other fruits are send to the school. This is the only time the children eat such delicaties. They love it! In the photo below, the children are saying THANK YOU in Polish , DZIEKUJEMY. Currently, this project is fully sponsored by Elizabeth Zaremba-Swat and Christopher Swat

Farm land Project - The Foundation plans to raise money to purchase land and let the people of Pogorzel become more independent by farming it. One hectare (2.2 acres) costs $800.
