There are many volunteer opportunities out there. One Person can make a difference. Actually, it is known that simply smiling at a passerby can completely change their attitude. Here are only a few examples of what's available:
Long Term Care Ombudsman Program needs volunteers to advocate for residents in long-term care facilities by: Communicating regularly with residents and listening to their concerns; Acting as a communications
link between residents and staff; Resolving problems and complaints on behalf of residents; Educating residents and their families on their rights, the Ombudsman Program, and other services and resources available.
Training is provided for State certification. Volunteers are asked to visit their facility at least two hours each week.
