"HERE IU has new voices, new
direction. Si, se puede!"
"Organize, organize, organize. Si, se
puede!"
"We are part of a strong and powerful
international union! Workers like us are fighting the same
companies everyday across North America, and we are winning. All
hospitality workers deserve to be part of our movement."
"I think the Union should make an
effective and productive committee in order to organize the
unorganized hotels and restaurants."
"We, as a Union, should try and help each
other although each and everyone of us might have a different
situation. We all want to accomplish the same goal - that we are
one, we are strong, we are fighting for the same goal, and most
of all, we have a new voice and are going in a new
direction."
"I would like to thank all of you, my
brothers and sisters, in our HERE Union for giving me the
opportunity to attend the International HERE Convention. It was
a great experience and I would like to share with you this great
experience that I had. Meeting all these big members of our
Union has given me more energy to commit myself to help and
reach out to all our members who need help. It will be my
commitment to follow-up on organizing those who are not
organized and those who still do not believe in the need for
stronger solidarity to meet our goals as one strong Union. It is
only then that we can attain our goals for better wages,
retirement plan, and benefits, not only for now but for our
future and our future children."
"The highlights for me were the Loews
Hotel Action, Jesse Jackson's message to our leaders and
organizers, our Local 75 President's new position, the message
from Cardinal Mahony, and the Holiday Inn Express workers who
were fired and arrested by U.S. immigration - they were
inspiring!"
