Not many adult performers can say they have Emmy nominations, two Young Artist Awards, a Soap Opera Digest Award nomination, are a member of a hit singing group and have a successful acting career. But 15-year-old Jesse McCartney can. Jesse grew up in New York with his whole family performing together. His family would do stage productions, rehearsing for two months each Fall for what would become the year’s big musical every November. Working in Community Theater opened Jesse’s eyes to the joy of singing live and the discipline of acting.

At the age of 7, he was cast as the lead in Oliver. That was followed by Annie Get Your Gun (as Little Jake) and The King & I (as a royal child with hair dyed black). When Jesse was 9 years old, the National Broadway Tour of The King & I was casting the role of Louis. Jesse auditioned and beat out hundreds of other boys to secure the role and toured with the company for 6 months all over the United States. Jesse also performed at Madison Square Garden in A Christmas Carol playing the young Scrooge with Roger Daltrey.

In June of 1998, Jesse was cast in the important role of Adam Chandler, Jr. on the hit ABC daytime drama All My Children. Jesse’s acting skills on All My Children were recognized by three organizations. Jesse was nominated for a Young Artist Award in 2000, 2001 and 2002, with Jesse taking home the award in 2001 and 2002. Jesse was also  nominated for an Emmy, in 2001 and 2002, for Best Performance by a Younger Actor in a Daytime Television Series and a Soap Opera Digest Award.  In addition, Jesse has been on television as a guest star on Law & Order, acting and singing with Rosie O’Donnell in her Big K-Back to School commercial and in her 1999 Primetime special, A Rosie Christmas.

Jesse is also a member, with four other boys, of the band Dream Street Dream Street's debut album earned a Gold Record and is still selling strong. Dream Street’s songs have also appeared on the soundtracks for Pokemon 2000 and The Little Vampire.  Previous to Dream Street, Jesse was a lead singer in the youth group Sugarbeats, formed by Sherry Kondor, the daughter of Carole King. Jesse has performed on four Sugarbeat CDs: How Sweet It Is (1998), Wildthing (1999) and Car Tunes (2000), all of which won music awards.  In addition Jesse has two solos on the 2001 CD,  A Sugarbeat's Christmas, that was nominated for a Grammy.  ( His solos are Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree and Little Saint Nick)

During the years that Jesse has performed, he has remained, by his own wish, in public school. He finds it more fun than having to learn in isolation with tutors. Jesse is also a spokesperson for the Kids for a Drug Free America and gives English lessons to kids in China through Sesame Street and CTW. When not working, Jesse lives in New York with his father, mother, sister and brother. He enjoys playing golf, skiing and playing baseball.
