Euclid of Alexandria
Euclid of Alexandria is the most well known and prominent ancient mathematician in history. His novel, The Elements, is so precise in mathematical thinking that it is still used today. This fact makes Euclid one of the greatest teacher and thinker of mathematics of all time. Euclid was born at about 325 B.C. and died around 625 B.C. in Alexandria, Egypt. However, these dates aren't accurate. Even though Euclid is know as one of the greatest mathematicians of all time there is little known about his life. Some people believe that Euclid was born in Naucrates and is the son of Tyre. Others believe that he is the Euclid of Megara. Any way you think of him, Euclid of Megara or the Euclid born in Naucrates, he is still the greatest mathematician we know today.
