Jerez de la Frontera

Jerez de la Frontera, Sherry capital of Spain and birthplace of Flamenco, is a beautiful little city not far from Rota. We spent several days in Jerez (pronounced her-eth) visiting local bodegas, tasting local cuisine, watching Flamenco and shopping.

Domecq, a local sherry producer with extensive Spanish history, has a lovely bodega we were able to tour. Here, we stopped for drinks and tapas, but unfortunately, the Spanish weren't eating, yet. We still haven't got meal times figured out!

We stopped in the market to take a peak at the fresh produce. The prices are unbelievably low.

Beautiful veggies, food for the Spanish people, can be had for much less than in traditional stores.

A meat vendor hangs all types of dried meats from different regions of Spain.

Outside the public market, Carmen stops to smell dried herbs for sale.
