X-CEPTIONAL GILLIAN ANDERSON
We know her as no-nonsense FBI agent, Dana Scully,
from FOX's critically acclaimed sci-fi series the X-files.
The series chronicles the work of two FBI agents driven
by the motto, "The truth is out there." Together, Fox
Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully investigate unsolved
cases, almost all of which involve the paranormal or
inexplicable phenomena. Of course, the government's
interference is always questionable. The result of this
unlikely combination? A quirky, offbeat show that
combines a quest with governmental conspiracy.
Throughout every episode, Gillian Anderson is the
stabilizing force in an off-kilter world. Agent Scully is so
serious about her work, so involved in explaining the
inexplicable, we rarely see her doing anything else.
Gillian's natural beauty softens Scully's severity. A simple
chin-length cut accentuates Gillian's best features - the
slight inward curl of the chin directs our eyes to her
sensuous mouth.
That amazing auburn hair is memorable in itself. Its
dramatic color rich with subtle highlights - the shorter
layers around her face play up their unique coloration.
Both sexy and professional, the easy movement of
Gillian's hair emphasizes Scully's femininity: with a
shake of her head, it can be swept back, or left to
tumble softly over one eye. Gillian's gorgeous tresses
offset Scully's impersonal FBI attitude, allowing us an
otherwise non-existent peek into Scully's soul.
Before landing the role as Fox Mulder's intelligent,
skeptical partner, Gillian Anderson's passion was theater.
She won a Theatre World Award for her performance in
an off-Broadway production of Absent Friends. She has
also appeared in other plays. For her work on the X-files,
Gillian has been nominated for both Emmy and Golden
Globe Awards for Best Actress in a drama series.
