WHAT IS OUR PASSION IN MINISTRY? God has developed in me a strong passion to teach His Scriptures. I can remember as a teenager, and even still today, reading the Bible and thinking how much what I was reading needed to be shared with others. My time at Bible College taught me the power of God’s Word to change lives. During this time God developed in both my wife and me a desire to pursue ministry full-time. During our five years in Philadelphia we volunteered in the youth group at Bible Fellowship Evangelical Free Church. There we developed a passion to minister specifically to young people. It is therefore our desire to use God’s Word to help young people develop a passion for Him that motivates them to give their lives to Him by serving others and by sharing with others his Good News. During our ministry time we have come to see that family is extremely important in this process. Therefore, it is our desire to help develop healthy families, which corporately develop a passion for God together. This will truly be a challenge in a day when the family unit is under attack. WHERE ARE WE SERVING??? God has given us a unique opportunity to pursue our passion at Jericho Valley Church. There I will be serving as part-time “Minister to Families” while attending seminary. JVC is a young church of about 60-70 regular attendees. The church currently meets in the Southampton Library Building in Richboro, PA. Here I will be responsible for pioneering a new aspect of the ministry, which will create opportunities for families to grow in their passion for God together. WHAT ARE THE OVERALL OBJECTIVES OF OUR MINISTRY? 1. Develop and lead activities that strengthen the family unit 2. Develop and lead family and youth Bible studies focused on building stronger families 3. Teach and encourage families to grow together in God’s Word. HOW WILL THESE OBJECTIVES BE CARRIED OUT? A few of the ways I will be responsible to carry out the above stated objectives are to: 1. Develop one family activity per month. These activities will include on both fellowship (i.e. family picnics, game-nights etc.) and service (i.e. community service, inner-city ministry etc.) 2. Lead a Community Group (Part of JVC's Small Group Ministry) 3. Develop a weekly family devotional based on Sunday’s sermon and other appropriate topics to be distributed to each family each Sunday. HOW WILL WE BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE? I will be working along side of the Sr. Pastor and Associate Pastor of Jericho Valley Church. The Associate pastor, Jason vonEhrenkrook will be my direct supervisor. Not only will I be held accountable by them to maintain integrity and commitment to the ministry, but I will also be held accountable by an organization called Student Ministries Inc. (SMI) through whom we are raising our support. Because we will be ministering in young church we will need to raise our support through this non-profit ministry. SMI provides a way for seminary students to work in a ministry while attending seminary. This is done by helping them raise support for their approved ministries. They also provide each supporter with a tax-free donation. For all practical purposes, we will be considered missionaries to the people of Jericho Valley Church and the community of Richboro. HOW CAN YOU HELP??? There are three definite ways that you can be a partner with us in this ministry: 1. Pray. Pray. Pray. We know that it is God who has placed us in the ministry. It is He who will sustain us. Because of this, we value friends and family who will be bathing us in prayer continually. With all of our dependence on prayer we trust all the glory will go to God because we will not have ministered out of our own strength. 2. Give us your ideas! While we have done and will continue to do a great amount of research to find the best way to bring families together to worship, grow and serve, as a unit, we know that we do not have all the answers. We will greatly value your ideas while we pioneer this new ministry. 3. Support us financially. It is our desire that I will have to work as little as possible in another part-time job. This way I can give more time to the church. Any support you will be able to give will help this goal be possible. Our goal is $1500/month. We are confident that God will provide all of our needs financially. We are also confident that He will work through some of you to make this possible. HOW LONG WILL WE NEED SUPPORT?? We will need support until one of two things happen: 1. I complete my MDIV program. The MDIV program at BTS is 96 credits. I hope to take nine credits a semester along with some summer and winter term courses. My goal is to be completed with my masters degree in three years. SMI only provides this support raising opportunity to Seminary students. Once a student graduates his support will need to come from some other means 2. Jericho Valley Church is able to hire me as a paid staff member. It is our prayer that the church will continue to grow and it will be able to provide our financial needs. FINALLY... We know that ministering under the umbrella of support raising is a great responsibility. This is why we have sought after a church and mission organization that will be proactive in holding us accountable to work with integrity and diligence. This is also why we are writing you. We know that your prayers and support will keep us on the right track and focused on God’s will for our lives. Please consider being a partner with us and our ministry as we continue to seek God’s direction in our lives and the lives of those we serve.
