   High-Tech Talkers -- Meeting Roles

Member Roles at Each Meeting

Toastmaster - Serves as genial host, provides a meeting theme, introduces assistants (ah counter, grammarian, timer), introduces speakers and table topics master.
Wizard of Ahs - Listens and records verbalized pauses, ahs, umms, you knows and so forth. 
Grammarian - Provides the word for the day and encourages each speaker to use it.
Timer - Times the speeches, evaluations and table topics.  Timing lights are used to aid speakers.
Joker - Tells a funny story or joke
Speakers - Prepare and present speeches based on a project from their speech manual.  Most speeches are 5-7 minutes in the basic CTM manual.  Advanced speeches may vary up to 10-20 minutes.
Table Topics Master - Leads the impromptu-speaking portion of the meeting.  Introduces the topic and calls on members to speak for 1-2 minutes.  This part of the meeting helps us to develop "thinking on your feet" skills.
General Evaluator - Leads the evaluation part of the meeting, which includes an evaluation of each prepared speech, as well as the meeting as a whole.
Evaluator - Evaluates the speakers.  Each speaker is assigned an evaluator who prepares both a written and verbal evaluation of 2-3 minutes.

Club Officers

President - Presides at meetings as club CEO, sets club goals, presides at officer meetings.
VP Public Relations - Develops, implements club PR program, promotes positive image of Toastmasters
VP Education - Plans successful club meetings.  Assists members in their education and training.
VP Membership - Sets club membership goals, assists with new member's applications, prepares and delivers welcome packets to prospective members.
Secretary - Maintains club records and correspondence.  Keeps club bylaws and official  documents.  Reads meeting notes and minutes.
Treasurer - Manages and reports on club funds, manages checking account, accepts membership fees.
Sergeant at Arms - Opens meetings, prepares meeting room, welcomes guests.
