Shapeshifters

Since so far noone seems to have gotten around to making a help page for the shapeshifters class I thought I might as well! I've been messing around with the class since it first came out at the beginning of October 2000, and have recorded a lot of what I experienced raising forms, as well as posts I thought were valuable from the shifters board :)

First of all, as Paldin said when the guild first came out, shifters cannot use any mode of defense (defend dodge/block etc). Shifters also cannot be given items or pick stuff up off the ground (the higher forms tree, treant, xaerre and drakon being the exceptions to this).

ADVANCING FORMS
From my own experience, and after reading various posts on the shifters board, there are two things you need to advance forms. First of all you need experience. This can be gained in *any form*, and be used to train, once again, any form. You also need to spend time in form before you can advance. Therefore I would recommend people gain their experience in the form they are currently trying to advance so that they can get both the experience and time in form at the same time. The only exception I would make to this is flower - you cannot get experience in this form (when in combat you just flail around helplessly, not hitting at all), so switch to your best form and go get exp. When you come back to Greenthum change to flower and get some time in form.

Shapeshifters can learn all forms - the basic ones (frog, opossum and rock) are learnt at the same rate by everyone, the others differing based on which order you joined the particular clan. For example, if I joined the feline clan first (making it my primary clan) I would learn cat, panther and xaerre the fastest and with the least exp. My secondary clan, forest, would be the second fastest in terms of time you have to spend in form, and amount of exp needed etc. One thing to note - once you join a clan you can't leave it, so choose carefully... although you can eventually join and learn all forms, it does effect the time/exp needed as I mentioned above :)

HELP FILES
I would recommend everyone read help change, help train and help clan, as they are really useful and explain the basics. One thing which doesn't seem to be in the helpfiles tho, is the 'sfeels' command. It is a list of feelings you can use in the form you are currently in. These are all really cute!! ;)
