The Army Cadet Force is a National Voluntary Youth Organisation for 13 - 18 yr olds. It is sponsored by the Army, which simply means that, as a cadet, you wear army uniform. Cadets have no commitment to the military whatsoever.
As a cadet you will get to do Drill, Skill at Arms, Target Shooting, Map & Compass and Orienteering, Fieldcraft, Campcraft, Adventurous Training, First Aid and Citizenship Training. There will also be the opportunity to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme as well as a variety of sporting activities.
We encourage you to develop your interpersonal skills and give you experience of leadership and teamwork.
In addition to the activities organised every week at the detachment, there are also training days and weekends as well as a week's Annual Camp during the summer that you can attend.
There are also visits to Regular Army units as well as courses run in the UK and abroad.
Further details of our training can be found here.
