| Every year the small town of Derby,
in Tasmania, comes alive for the Derby River Derby. During this festive
occassion, a number of rafting races are run, culminating in the big race
- the Super-Maxis. Some friends of mine used to enter each year, and I
would be a crew member. Here we are getting fuelled up and ready to go... |

Essentially, you have to make your
own raft, put as many people on it as possible, and paddle down the river,
a distance of about 8 kilometres. There's always a big commotion at the
start, when everyone madly tries to get their rafts into the water and
on the way...
