WRITER/DIRECTOR
EDDIE HOWELL

Writer and Director Eddie Howell was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley. Having been a migrant farm worker, a veteran of the Vietnam War, and a lifetime educator has equipped Howell with many experiences to write about. Although several decades of work contributions have earned Howell a well-deserved retirement, this innate workaholic refuses to stop giving to the community he so truly cares about. An aspiration to share his creativity, experience, and life lessons inspired him to write, produce, and direct a series of educational videos entitled “Consejos De Mis Padres,” which are currently viewed in schools all over Texas. That was merely a glimpse into the creative genius that Howell is capable of. In wanting to increase the intensity of his message as well as the size of his audience, Howell wrote a powerful screenplay reflecting some of the events he and his family experienced as migrant farm workers. This incredible screenplay, Harvest of Redemption came into the hands of Austin actor and producer Laura Elysa Perez. She was so intrigued by the story, she passed it along to her law school colleague and friend, L.A. actor and producer Javier Chapa. Both Perez and Chapa, originally from the Rio Grande Valley, agreed this story could not escape the film audience and had to be made. This collboration marked the birth of Historia Entertainment. Howell is currently finishing the corresponding book version of Harvest of Redemption's screenplay entitled “Por Unos Helotes.”

EXECUTIVE/CREATIVE PRODUCER
JAVIER CHAPA

Growing up on a ranch in San Manuel taught actor and producer Javier Chapa the key elements of hard work and survival. Although his roping skills earned awards and medals, Chapa’s true strengths are exhibited when he is working behind and in front of a camera. Chapa knew early on that he not only wanted to make films, but also wanted to have a competitive edge in the film industry. That desire inspired him to pursue a law degree at Saint Mary’s University in San Antonio where he met co-producer Perez. It was in their third year that Chapa and Perez both acquired representation by a talent agent in Austin, began acting in films and commercials, and collaborating script ideas. Chapa’s Texas A&M Marine Corps buddies would probably be surprised to find out what he is doing now, but they wouldn’t be surprised with his success. He has decorated his acting resume with appearances in several feature films, the most recent being a supporting role in Carlita’s Secret, starring Eva Longoria (The Young and the Restless). In addition, he received a showcase entry position in the 2002 Austin Film Festival with his writing and directorial debut Happy Hour. Chapa currently resides and works as an actor and producer in Los Angeles but frequently finds himself in the Rio Grande Valley sharing his expertise with Historia Entertainment.

MARKETING PRODUCER/CASTING EXECUTIVE
LAURA PEREZ

Although producer and actor Laura Elysa Perez was born and raised in The Rio Grande Valley, she has performed on stage and in front of a camera in venues all over Texas for the past ten years. Perez made her mark in high school by being one of the first Hispanic actresses chosen to represent Texas and the Rio Grande Valley at N.F.L. Nationals. She later held the same title at her treasured alma mater, the nationally ranked and recognized forensics program at Tyler Junior College. She still remains the only Hispanic female to have brought that department a coveted national gold medal. Acting is not Perez’s only talent. She co-wrote material for and co-directed The Valley’s own Teen Theatre of Hope, which was acknowledged by the National Coalition of Hispanic Health in Chicago. Having an associate’s degree in theatre, a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and a law degree would probably make Perez prepared for just about any career endeavor. However, she will only pursue her heart’s objective, and that is to act in and make films. Her most recent acting credits include being featured in The Life of David Gayle and work on the much anticipated Disney film, The Alamo. Perez has also worked as an associate producer, set designer, and hair and make-up artist on several projects. She is happy to be back in the Rio Grande Valley, sharing her ideal to honor the history and traditions of her culture with Historia Entertainment.

ARTURO AYALA

Arturo Ayala is the set and music mastermind behind Historia Entertainment. Ayala has lived a life much like his lifelong friend, writer and director Eddie Howell. He too grew up a migrant farm worker and is a veteran of the Vietnam war. Although a challenging task, it is one that Ayala embraces enthusiastically. Where one does not exist, Ayala creates. However, creating sets is not Ayala's only talent. Having a former career as a radio disk jockey and stringing the guitar since he was a child are just a few indications of Ayala’s love of music. When Ayala is not building, he spends his time playing and singing with a local trio and mariachi. Ayala's passion for and knoweldege of music has provided insight and foundation to manage the musical scores and soundtracks for Historia Entertainment's projects.
