..:|-Introduction-|:..
The
year is 1868. It is in the Meji era, a decade after the civil war. A new way of life is evolving for the people of
Japan. The time of the samurai has passed, and carrying a sword is now a crime. It is a
time of civil unrest, as people adjust to their new lives and to their new government.
When a rurouni (wanderer) comes to the aid of Kaoru, a young woman who runs her family's
dojo, she is suprised that he still carries his sword. This man is Kenshin Himura, a
reformed samurai who uses a sakaba - a sword with a reversed blade. After spending many
years of his life as an assasin, Kenshin has decided to fight in the name of justice,
using his sword to help people that are in need without shedding blood. But what is his
purpose? Why
does he choose to fight with a reverse-bladed sword instead of a normal sword? All
throughout the story, we learn of Kenshin's interesting and very sad past. We learn of his
old nickname, Battousai the manslayer.
As
serious as this all sounds, Kenshin, Kaoru, and their friends manage to get themselves
into all sorts of mischeif.

I
love this series! Most people who have seen it will agree, Kenshin is a great blend of
comedy and drama. The cast of characters is brilliant, and I guarantee that after a few
episodes you too will be addicted. The animation is good, especially in the fight
sequences. The music is also wonderful. This is one of the best anime series ever created.
