Pakistan 2001.  Biafo-HisparTraverse.

These are photos from our recent trek in the Karakoam.  We did the traverse in 11 days.  They say about 200 hundred people do the trek a year. Most of the trek is spent hiking on glaciers, traversing across glaciers or traversing along side a glacier. You grow to appreciate trails after the experience. The highest elevation we reached was 15,000 feet, not extremely high for Himalayan standards but the views are some of the best.  Here is our story.

We start the trip.  Our engine moves too much from the engine block so they latch it too the frame with rope. (As long as the brakes work, en Shallah)

A very narrow road so we get off to walk.  Notice Dave's pink hat. It's hard too miss.

You may need to adjust the color on your monitor.

The hiking begins.

Such confidence and excess weight.  This was pre-sickness.

And the agony.

We finally get to the Glacier.  Notice Dave's pink hat.

We begin to jump the crevasses.

This is still a small one. The glacier goes down 1.5 kilometers. ( a mile)

Does he make it? more photos
