The Lai Q volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 win over Teammax Sunday afternoon at the Kai Tak East Sports Center. The win was the Lai Q first victory in this season.

"It feels awesome to get that first win," Head Coach Wong Sai Fung said. "Everyone contributed in a positive way, which is great to see. I thought Wong Oi Ying and Wong-yeung Hiu Fung really looked like an experience players and both played a great match in their first Div.A2 debut."

The Lai Q never trailed in the first and the second set.

Lai Q took the first set with ease, coming away with a 25-19 win. Lai Q went on a run for a 17-10 advantage. Szeto Po Ying and Ma Yin Shan combined with ten points. Kong Kwan Ting and Cheung Mei Yu both added two more kills for the team.

Set two was all under controlled by Lai Q as all Lai Qs played well and hard defense in this set that leading to a 25-15 win in the second set. Reserved player Law Man Wai played an important role on defense.

Set three was closer. The Teammax stormed out a lead and eventually stretched its lead to 14-12, forcing Lai Q to call a timeout. After the break, Lai Q responded with a run to bring the score to 24-23. Teammax had a chance to tie up the game, but a cross-court rocket by a Teammax player in their last procession gave the Lai Q a 3-0 win in the match.

Lai Q will face Wah Ching at Mei Lam Sports Center (10:30 am) on 31 May 2009.
